Sure they did. They chose to go on medication rather than leave their mental illness untreated.

Your argument that people "choose" abstinence to prevent pregnancy is no different that arguing that the mentally ill should "choose" to treat their depression with whiskey.

Should people who already have two kids and have decided not to have more be forced to "choose" having no sex for the rest of their lives?

There are other sexual acts you can perform without going the intercourse route. I'm sure we have someone around here who can talk about the back door being the good door, etc.

Wow. So you're seriously saying if you don't want to have kids you should never have vaginal intercourse again?

I am saying I shouldn't pay for your contraception.

Go ahead, screw like bunnies, but why should it come out of my wallet?

Girl on top. Gravity. Can't get pregnant.

    Duh.

wicked: I'm not sure I disagree with you. But your last several posts have all been about abstinence and people having buttsex.

This is not something that is left to a guess as in, "I think we can save a lot down the road in disease treatment by a little investment in disease prevention today." There is sound economic proof that it does work that way. The same can't be said about handing out condoms, unless you want to follow people into the back seats of their cars or into their bedrooms and make certain they actually use their free condoms... and uses them correctly--something you don't have to do when you vaccinate a baby... which, coincidentally is something you do ONCE, at minimal cost. Vaccinations are relatively cheap (and not a recurring event for people), which is why it is fairly easy to evaluate their effect on preventing disease from a cost standpoint.

Also, from a qualitative point of view, this isn't rooted in the same kinds of moral questions as contraception. Whether you and I agree, there are a large percentage of people who feel contraception is wrong. There are few, if any people, who have moral problems with vaccinations.

Hey, if some wanna go that route, fine.
    There's also oral sex.

Never was implying that couples should stick (no pun intended) to anal intercourse to prevent pregnancy.

I just think your point is getting lost. Rather than getting sidetracked with how people can prevent pregnancy, stick with the fact you shouldn't have to pay for other people's contraception.

Because I think others have confused the issue.

I am constantly asking that. It's because I don't ignore the reality that there are two parts to a balance statement.

Wait. Clarence Thomas gets a salary? I thought that was a ceremonial position.
