The Daily Caller rips the Washington Post for the profile of their former colleague:

Isn't Charles Johnson the guy who said Michael Brown was facing a murder rap -- and then, when officials said he wasn't, took that to mean he really was?

    That's the guy.

He seems to be the kind of guy who will post anything he finds on various websites, or through a cursory google search.

I can't figure out why The Post profiled him, or brought attention to the fact that he outed Jackie. It's just another way for the Post to put her name out there without doing it themselves.

It can only serve to pressure Jackie to come forward publicly.

Yes. He's also the dickhead who posted the home addresses of people he believed to be exposed to Ebola. And called Kaci Hickox a "far left-wing [c-word]."

    New York Times:

Officer Wilson and Officer Spradling own a home together on Manda Lane in Crestwood, Mo., a St. Louis suburb about a half-hour drive from Ferguson.

On one hand, I know that what Johnson is doing is despicable.

On the other hand, I definitely want to know as much as I can about Jackie.

Is it me, or does the Post have an unusually large hard-on for this story?

It's a local story for them.

Not really. They don't cover UVA regularly, and Charlottesville is a few hours away.

Almost every Post story from UVA this year is about Rolling Stone or Hannah Graham.

I count 27 articles since the RS story first ran less than three weeks ago.

It's a national scandal at a university that has an enormous alumni base among the paper's local readership. The Chicago Tribune would treat a story at the University of Illinois the same way. The Dallas Morning-News would treat a story at UT-Austin the same way.

And part of it, I think, is the "rabbit hole" nature of this story. The Post started digging, and every revelation leads to more revelations and more questions. Slate's been on it pretty hard, too, for much the same reason - it's hard to stop once you start, because the story keeps expanding.

I get a sense it's personal between The Post and Rolling Stone. That's what I was getting at.
