We're only talking about liberals irresponsibly pushing agendas. That probably only accounts for about 90 percent of journalists.

I'm starting to worry that this cover wasn't real, either.

Did they at least try to talk to the ticket scalpers?

How many of the women surveyed are from the Andrea Dworkin School of "All Sex is Rape"?

Thought this Amy Davidson piece about what Erdley did to "Cindy" by describing her as a "self-described hook-up queen" who thought rape with a bunch of frat guys would be fun and enjoyable (even though she never talked to her!), was really good. She cast Cindy as the evil friend who would rather her friend be raped and hide it than be excluded from future frat parties, using (presumably) nothing more than Jackie's word. Even if everything Jackie told Erdley about the frat house was true, that still would have been awful without knowing if Cindy was really that despicable.

The interesting aspect of that to me is that that is exactly why the RS story ended up unraveling on them. There were people -- including on this thread -- who were saying, "Wait a minute, that doesn't sound right. Who would behave that way?"

Which is what prompted the Washington Post, and others, to dig a little and try to contact people.

Check out the first post on the thread. It's not out of the question that Big Circus was the first person on the Internet to question the sourcing, probably minutes after the story broke.

I can confirm that I was not. But I do like the idea.

    That was a great take.

"Cindy" is set up as a slutty bitch, who would have been an unsympathetic rape victim, compared to the virtuous Jackie. No one could find fault with Jackie's actions that night. She was dressed conservatively, and didn't drink. Yet, she was still raped, and despite her virtuousness, and sobriety, the system failed her. Her friends were more interested in their social standing than in getting her help, or justice.

If that's how Jackie was treated, imagine how rape victims in other circumstances might be treated if they came forward.

So what's the end game with this story? Jackie does a tearful, on-camera admission? That seemed to end the Manti Te'o shitshow, right? Erdely does a tearful, on-camera interview? Rolling Stone's releases its "re-reported" story?

Or does the story just kind of fade away, like the missing airplane?
