Downtown, the Golden Nugget pool isn't big, but you won't find anyplace else with a water slide through a shark tank.

And it's the home of 'High Stakes Poker.'

Go back to the beginning of this thread. I think there is a section on pools.

Also, you should go to O'Shea's to play blackjack, and if Jamie Foxx shows up you should make fun of him.
He might mistake you for me and strike you repeatedly, so don't be alarmed if that happens.

I love the concept of O'Shea's bottle service. $40 for a fifth and a mixer, served in a brown paper bag.

And if you stay at the Nugget, the new Rush Tower has very nice rooms and a separate entrance so you don't have to hike through the casino. Obviously much cheaper than comparable rooms on the Strip, although you're downtown.

    I have a question -- a simple one.

In all the times I have been to Vegas, I have never found it in me to get on that city bus, or jump in a cab, and go over to Fremont Street, as everything I felt like I ever needed can be found shoehorned between, say, New York, New York and the Palazzo.

That said, it is worth going to Fremont Street?

I go alone. Don't drink. Just play poker. Lots of poker.

I'm a huge downtown fan. Cheaper gambling overall, mostly easier to get drinks (since the casinos are smaller), more reasonable food prices though there aren't the high-end gourmet options like The Strip. Cheap hotels and mostly no-frills except Golden Nugget. Fremont Street Experience (the light show) isn't bad. Downtown folks are, let's just say, more salt-of-the-earth. Not many beautiful people.

Definitely worth checking out once as a visitor. For some that's enough.

I think it is something you have to do. I went to old Vegas last year for a few hours to play craps because the odds are much better than at the strip casinos. It was an interesting experience. Would have been more fun if I didn't lose - or if I didn't eat at Fitzgerald's. Pure awful.

Also, fuck this site's ads. A co-worker just came to my cube and asked me something and now I am pretty sure she thought I was on eHarmony. FML.
