Vegas is definitely not a place I would want to go and shop. Especially would not want Mrs. Ace going wild shopping. It'd be cheaper if she were glued to the roulette wheel.

Just came back from 4 days at Planet Hollywood. Liked the hotel a lot. Rooms were very nice. Casino not too big so you get lost. Lots of restaurant choices. Everybody was very nice, even the asian dealers.
I've now stayed on that whole block -- Bally's, Paris and Planet Hollywood. I'd put Bally's at the bottom of those three, but I had a decent time staying there, too.
Went to the Venetian for one afternoon. That casino is too big, so you do get lost. I think they were having a poker tournament because it seemed as though half the casino was poker tables.
Saw Terry Fator at the Mirage. It was a very enjoyable show. Patriotic, damn funny. The guy is much more than (yawn) just a ventriloquist. His assistant, Taylor Makakoa, is, on a scale of 1 to 10, about a 25. Google search revealed that she is now his girlfriend. He filed for divorce about a year ago.
Wanted to take one of the above suggestions and have dinner at the Prime Rib Loft at the Orleans. As we were getting ready to do, I was thumbing through a local mag and discovered that it is closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Bad timing.
And, I was reminded of a line from a now-retired legendary BBWAA member, upon leaving this really weird bar in a National League spring training city. "Well, every city has to have a place for all the ugly people to go and let it all hang out." In Vegas, that place would be the Excalibur.

I think the Excalibur was among the first in Vegas to offer the all-day buffet pass.

Alright guys, time to open up everyone's favorite thread...

So the fiancee and I are flying in next Sunday (7/11) for the first-half of our honeymoon (Headed to Cali the week after).

I've been twice, she's been once. We're staying at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club at the Flamingo and, needless to say, we're pretty excited. So excited, in fact, that I just read through all 12 pages of this thread to see if there's anything I'm missing.

For those of you who have been recently, does the Ticket stand near the Coke building still sell decent half-price tickets for shows/food? The wife-to-be and I are dying to go see Carrot Top again (he was hilarious when we caught him last January) and have heard he's changed his show a bit so I'm kind of hoping to get some cheap seats for that.

And as for food, we're planning on going to a couple of restaurants for some nice dinners but the bulk of our meals will (hopefully) be done the ol' fashioned way: We're supposedly got an oven in our hotel room and there's a few grocery stores within the bus route.

Basically, I guess I'm asking if anyone's been at the HVC at the Flamingo and, if so, how was the experience?

Other than that, I'm really just wondering how the deals are for this time of year. We don't have much penciled in as of this moment. All she really wants to do is get one of those giant margaritas, see Carrot Top, go to Coyote Ugly in the NY/NY and check out the club at the Luxor. All I want to do is swim, bet on some sort of sports game and bang her in the hotel's hot tub.

Should be a fun time. :)

So are you at least gonna post a picture of her now?

Oh, did I just make it weird?

I'll post a pic of the two of us in Vegas when we get there because 1.) I don't care about outing myself and 2.) I want all the ladies of SJ (especially IJAG) to feel bad about what they're missing with me getting married (Yeah, right). :)

Was there this week. Temps topped out at 111, so you don't need the hot tub for hot sex. It'll be a little hotter than that if you're driving to SoCal through the desert, but the World's Largest Thermometer in Baker wasn't working when we went through this week nor when we went through in March.
We stayed at the Flamingo in March, but it was the first week of March Madness and it was too crowded for my taste. Pool scene was good, though.
I don't know anything about the Hilton Grand Vacation Club (I avoid those, like the timeshare spiels). So, are you staying in a Hilton condo on the Flamingo grounds?? Flamingo is part of the Harrah's properties. (confusing).
This is strange for me, but I have been to Vegas three times in the past five months. If you re-read this whole thread, you know pretty much what my contributions are. Enjoy.
Oh, by the way, we made the drive home in 4 hours, 15 minutes, including about a half-hour In-N-Out stop in Barstow.

The Hilton Grand Vacation Club is a timeshare property that the fiancee's aunt gave us for the week. I guess she already has a timeshare so I don't think we'll have to worry about those folks bugging us.

From what I saw of it on Hotels.com it looks beautiful. Apparently it's an extension of the Flamingo or a completely separate part of it. I know that the hotel web site says I have access to the Flamingo pool and a smaller, private pool inside of it so we'll see.

And 111? Jesus. That's crazy. When I went four years ago in mid-July it was around that temp as well so if that happens again next week, I'll likely spend the bulk of my day in the pool and the bulk of the nights going hotel to hotel. :)

You WILL get bugged by timeshare people in every casino you enter. Tahiti Village is especially prevalent. A firm "NO THANKS" usually works and never stop walking when they approach you.
We had a 40-degree temp rise last Monday -- 68 when we left here to 108 when we got to Vegas. Temps in Vegas dropped to about 80 overnight.
I just hope you don't have too far to walk to get from your place to the pool or the casino. A pretty nice present from your aunt-in-law.

When I last went (January 2009), the wife-to-be and I stayed at the Luxor and we weren't in the hotel for six minutes before we got hounded by timeshare people. I politely told them we weren't interested, then said the same thing the next time they bothered me and then started making up lies every other time they pestered me.

Luckily, by day three they left us alone.

I'm hoping they'll leave me alone but I don't mind politely declining if I'm asked. It's not like I'm going to go the whole trip without being hassled (Porn cards anyone?).

And, yeah, it's a damn good gift from the future aunt-in-law but she's VERY generous. I'm seriously crossing my fingers that she only gives us like $100 for our wedding gift (or hopefully less since she gave us this) because I'm really not going to be comfortable taking what I think she's likely to give us (Probably a grand) even though I could sure use the money.

But, then again, I guess it's the thought that counts. We're just going to have to do something super sweet for her when we get back.
