Liked the hotel and the ambience involved, but that was after a previous trip to the Flamingo, which I hated.
All the rooms at PH are decorated with Hollywood memorabilia. Ours had Douglas Fairbanks stuff, which was cool. My daughter's room was filled with BeetleJuice stuff, scared the hell out of her.
Coffee shop is decent. Expensive restaurant was TOO expensive, good but TOO expensive.
I had no luck in the casino.
Hotel is connected to the mall, which is worth a visit.
There's a skewered meat restaurant in the mall which is really good, but pricey. Waiters walk around the freshly grilled meat on skewers, 10 or 12 different meats. Just raise a hand and they give you some. You can stay as long as you like, eat as much as you want.

Stayed at the Flamingo and hated it. Spent a lot of time in the Planet Hollywood casino and that's why I chose that hotel. I'll have to checkout this steakhouse place you speak of.

Flamingo has a great pool, and the location's great, but one of the keys there is to snag a room which is close enough to the action so that you don't have to take a cab, back and forth . . . a serious consideration at the MGM Grand, as well.

For anyone who's been out there lately, how are the table game limits on the weekends? Can you find tables for less than $25 bet?

Read that, a couple of days ago. Can't say I'll actually MISS the joint, especially since I've reached the point where "low rolling" is no longer foremost in my Vegas planning. Still, there were a couple of pretty epic Sahara-based drinking / black jack sessions, in my past. Same with the old Westward Ho, the Horseshoe (broke my poker cherry there) & the original Alladin (going all the way back to the college days & my degenerate roomies fr/ Detroit). My wife put her first coin into a slot machine, at the stanky old Boardwalk. Those joints will always have a place in my heart.....

Big question. I assume you're talking Strip casinos?

In October, we had no problem finding $5 & $10 tables both downtown & at the "locals" casinos. We've gotten to the point where the "locals" spots (South Point, the M, most of the Station Casinos) are about the only places we play, now.

Strip was a different story. We saw some lower limits (the Bellagio always has a $5 table...but good luck getting a seat), but the table rules were pretty bad. REALLY bad, in fact. Wasn't worth my money. We use the strip for eating / shows/ people watching......locals casinos and downtown for playing. Of course, helps that I have a wife that doesn't mind playing designated driver :)

Didn't mind Flamingo but we're trying elsewhere this spring. Have some extremely foggy memories of a sports bar/book not too far away ... maybe at Bally's? My best suggestion for all of Vegas is $1 beer night (Thursdays) at Cashman Field during 51s home games. What a gonger that turned into.

Stayed at Bally's three weeks ago. I LOVE Bally's. On another note, I got the Anthony Curtis Las Vegas Advisor coupon book and didn't use a single one. We got coupons at Bally's for many of the same things. That said, I would pay the $37 for the website. Lots of good info and we'll probably use some of the coupons on our next visit.

I've been twice this year already. Stayed at Rio in January and Bally's in February.
Both places gave us coupon packets and NONE of the coupons were for anything at that hotel. Harrah's Properties (now renamed Caesars Entertainment), I guess, wants you on the move.
I don't like the food choices at Bally's. The coffee shop closes at 2 p.m., the food in the Tequila bar is crap and then there's the really expensive steakhouse ($50+). But the coffee shop at Paris is OK. It's in the walkway between Bally's and Paris. There's a good steak place at the far end of the Paris casino, Mon Ami Gabi.

Back to Planet Hollywood -- the mall attached is the Miracle Mile Shops and the restaurant with the skewers of grilled meat is named Pampas Churrascaria brazilian grille. If you're a meat-eater, this is a good stop.

    SoCal,

Mon Ami Gabi is a chain but the food is excellent. The French Onion soup is very good and the Prime Steak sandwich is fantastic.

Just found a gem of deal for Planet Hollywood. If you check-in using Facebook places, you get 2for1 coupon for the buffet - which is awesome.

Why do you need a 2-for-1 coupon? Don't your pants have pockets?
