The sad thing is, one of the guys I am going on the trip with used to do that in college. He would call me and say "come pick me up at the cafeteria and I'll sneak you out a burger."

Sorry dude, I don't want your cargo shorts-bacon-cheeseburger.

You should have taken him up on the offer. Then you'd have a great story to tell the board about being poor in college.

Coffee shops closes at 2 p.m. or 2 A.M.? The mexican joint stayed open all night. We had tacos and shots and margaritas for $2 apiece about 2 a.m. As for the coupon book, we used one for 2-for-1 Jubliee tickets. I was shocked how good Jubliee was. Fiancee wanted to go and I was impressed how good it was (bare boobies or not!).

Good stuff. Westward Ho had those cool mushroom-like neon posts outside, and the snack bar inside had some outrageous cheap food like a buck footlong hot dog and a strawberry shortcake the size of a frisbee.

Of course there will never be another Horseshoe. Present-day Vegas casinos just pale in comparison to the good gamble ol' Benny Binion offered.

2 p.m. Yes, I thought that was weird, too. The coffee shop next to the Tequila bar.
Yeah, there were 2-for-1 coupons for Jubilee. Doesn't interest me. I saw Folies at the Tropicana a couple of times before it died. Same thing, isn't it?

I never went to Binions before it closed but I've been to Bill's. I know I've said this before - Bill's is awesome.

Actually STAYING at the Ho, was an experience like no other. World's largest / worst maintained Motel 6, basically. Couple of my friends and I (in our poverty level days) would crash at the Ho during the opening weekend on the Tourney, spending the day at the Stardust betting hoops. Back to the Ho for all night drinking & blackjack....Peppermill for an early A.M. breakfast.....Lather, Rinse, repeat. Good times.....at least, as much as I can remember.

Binions was amazing, back in it's day. It just oozed of "gamble." Snack bar food was the single, greatest bargain in LV (burgers & navy bean soup). The poker room was like something out of a movie set. May you burn in hell, Becky Binion Behnen.....
