Last time I was in Vegas, I stayed at one of the rooms at the new tower at the Flamingo. Having been put in the old tower rooms for the past several years before that, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the new rooms were (iPod docking stations, HDTVs, nice baths, rooms didn't smell like Lemon Pine-Sol and stale Swisher Sweets). That was two years ago, so I'm not sure if the new tower rooms have deteriorated since then.

And yes, the IP is a total dump. But they have truly mediocre karaoke in the rarely-used upstairs bar and DEALERTAINERS!

If you want cheap gambling, hit up the Casino Royale (wedged between the IP and Harrah's). It's attached to a Denny's, so you know it's quality. You can find $5 blackjack most nights, but don't be shocked if some college kid pukes Jagermeister all over your lap at 1 a.m.

Bally's a longer walk compared to what? I've stayed at MGM, Sahara, Excalibur and Bally's and it's not even close as far as the walk to and from the elevators, casino, Strip, etc. I LOVE Bally's. Staff is very nice, too. As for the Imperial Palace, I won't even go into the casino because it's so dirty looking so I wouldn't go near their rooms.

The celebrity impersonator dealertainers... *shudder*. Fun game: take a good look and try to figure out which celeb is being impersonated. Could be Lady Gaga, or it could be Isaac Hayes. Hard to be sure.

If anyone gives a joint good action, and they're willing to be rated, they should be rewarded. It's a win-win.

It IS Mammary Central in the cocktail-waitress-uniform derby, but that's not a good enough reason to play there.

If you want $5 hands go to NYNY, or Monte Carlo or even Bill's. Casino Royale is a shit hole that should never be thought about - unless you want a $1 Michelob beer. Seriously, the only place as shitty as this is Imperial Palace which has motel-style rooms looking over a parking garage. Stay at Bally's. And stay away from Imperial unless you are going to the Hash House to eat.

And stay away from the IP buffet unless you have a death wish.

I have had as much fun at Slots-A-Fun -- a dinky little place up on the north end of the strip -- as anywhere else in Las Vegas. During the mid-morning/afternoon, their craps table has (or had, it's been a year or two) $1 minimums. You stand on the sidewalk to shoot ... absolutely a blast. Take $20 with you, bet the pass line, and drink Heineken all afternoon and enjoy yourself.

Damn, makes me want to hit up Travelocity!

Call Sheldon Adelson insane then, because he's tightened up the comps at Venetian/Palazzo far more than any other place on the Strip. The guy's always been a piece of work, but lately he's seemed determined to take it to new levels. Go there to eat at a restaurant if you like one, but DO NOT play there.

Why wouldn't rich people take comps? It's really kind of a silly question.

Rich people want comps because it makes them feel even MORE important than they really aren't already.

It is also FREE, no matter how much money you have why would you turn down something that is free?
