It's walking distance, though it's kind of a long walk.

One bonus to where you're staying -- there's a monorail stop at the back of the MGM.

My wife and I had time to kill before our flight so we went to the Stratusphere. It was 18 bucks to get in and satisfied our desire to see everything from that high. I don't think I would dine there as the novelty wears off and there are a lot of better places to have a meal.

you probably won't find Sunset Magazine out by you, but the latest issue talks about downtown -- which is having a bit of a comeback. here's a link:

I have a good friend who always stays at the Strat. He is a very big drinker, and the C Bar at the Strat has a bottomless happu hour daily - $20 all you can drink 5-9 p.m.

You'd still have to go to the Strat for that. Not sure it's worth it.

    OK, maybe once.

First timer I went to Vegas - 1989, I think - I stayed at Vegas World, where the Strat is now. What a joint.

Same guy has recommended the steak house at the Circus Circus, which I just saw was No. 10 on that list of 10 best restaurants in LV.

I've never even been inside the Strat, but I'd like to point out that if I consider someone a big drinker, that person is probably a really, really big drinker.

Lotus of Siam is really, really good. If you like Thai, it's worth the drive from the Strip.

I stayed at the Signature a few years back during the first weekend of March Madness. I was part of a group that camped out in the MGM sports book all weekend, and we had shifts to save our seats. It is a loooong hike from the Signature to the MGM casino/book. A good 10 minutes at least, and that's using the moving sidewalks between the MGM and the Signature.

Lotus of Siam is the best meal I've ever had.

I knew when I booked Signature that it wasn't right on the strip.

    I'm OK with that.

If we want to see something at that corner, we'll probably do the hike.

However, if we want to eat at The Steakhouse (CC) or Top of the World (Stat), we're getting the rental car out and moving closer.

As an aside, reason (for me) Blue Man tickets we're showing up is because their new show starts June 1 and tickets didn't go on sale until Jan. 22 (Tuesday)....I'm pumped.
