    RIP Drai's...

Oh, the memories...both created, and then immediately forgotten.

Could never figure out how such a hot club could be in such a dump of a casino.

Dump now, but in it's previous life as the Barbary Coast, it was a great little place.

I was actually thinking of the Barbary Coast. Not sure I've been there since it's been Bill's Gambling Hall.

Casino always seemed to be jumping. Noisy, but high energy, lots of fun. Sorry to see it go.

Certainly wasn't (in the Barbary days) a typical glitz/glam strip type resort, Michael Gaughan ran it like a locals joint that just happened to be on the strip. Decent games, good drinks. A casino....not a resort. Guess when I think of a "dump", I'm more envisioning the Casino Royale or O'Sheas (may she RIP). Love those places, by the way ;-)

Anybody else remember the great collection of baseball stuff at the Las Vegas Club downtown? (Maybe it's still there for all I know been ages since I was there.)

There seems to be quite a bit of it still there, at least as of last July. Kinda sad looking now, though. The place seems to be in a state of constant remodeling, and display cases (dust covered and fading) seem to "pop up" at the end of hallways to nowhere, outside closed restaurants, etc. With a bit of a downtown renaissance taking place (El Cortez, Golden Gate, Plaza, Fitzgeralds/ now "The D", have all put a ton of money into their joints), I can't fathom how this place keeps going....

Bought two Vegas deals on Groupon today

    - Two adult admissions to Chuck Jones experience ($39.90 value, bought for $14 total)

    - Capo's Italian Steakhouse ($60 dinner value, bought for $30)

    Now all I need:
    - Good Grand Canyon South Rim bus tour (not sure I wanna do that 5-hour drive, especially if the wife is likely to fall asleep on the way back)
    - Blue Man or Cirque (KA) tickets

My Vegas honeymoon is coming together.

Saturday, June 1: Leave Nashville at 2 p.m. Eastern time (I live in KY). 4-hour direct flight. Get to Vegas after 3 Vegas/Pacific time. Get checked in to MGM Signature Penthouse (34th floor) one-bedroom. Have tickets to Shania at night at Caesar's Palace.

Sunday, June 2: Nothing planned. Sleep in? Tour the strip?

Monday, June 3: Bus trip all day via Grand Canyon Tour Company to Grand Canyon South Rim. Got good Valentines Deal for 79.99 per person/160 total.

Tuesday, June 4. Nothing planned during day. Have tickets to Blue Man at Monte Carlo at night. Got 2 c-level tickets for 96.85 each (193.70) on sale they were having.

Wednesday, June 5. Don't fly out til 4 in the afternoon. Don't have to return rental car to airport til 2. Maybe Red Rock or Valley of Fire?

I also have two tickets to Chuck Jones/Looney Tunes experience at Circus Circus and a $60 dinner voucher at Capos I could use I guess on June 2 or June 4.

    Looks like a good itinerary.

I would definitely tour the Strip Sunday and Tuesday. There's a ton to see and do there, without ever gambling or drinking.

Mandalay Bay has a cool aquarium. The Mirage has a "Secret Garden" in the back with dolphins and tigers. (Both of those have entry fees.) The Forum Shops have statues that come to life and perform on the hour. The Imperial Palace -- the biggest shithole on the Strip -- has a pretty decent car museum in the back; there's an entry fee, but there are free coupons on their website.

I saw the Blue Man Group when they were at the Venetian. Great show.

One must-stop for me whenever I'm in Vegas with a car: there are two Tommy's Hamburgers locations, one in North Vegas (I think) and one in Henderson. It's an L.A. chain, and the greatest burger in the world.

Two strip locations for good, quick, cheap food: Canter's Deli in Treasure Island, and the crepe place inside Paris.

Took the Monorail from Monte Carlo to Caesar's when there in the fall. It takes just as long to walk along the strip to and from as it does to walk to the Monorail and back through the hotels to get where you want to be. Still kinda neat but you're not saving time, or shoe leather.
