My last visit was about month before it closed. I bought or swiped a duffel bag's worth of stuff. I was there for seven nights and got to know a couple of the poker dealers. One of them found an old Stardust security shirt in the backroom and gave it to me.

I thought about ordering a poker felt. But they were bid way too high.

Play $10 in nickel slots at McCarren and then catch the next flight home. You'll thank me later ... :D

Have ashtrays and souvenir coffee mugs from the joint.

That's one place that doesn't owe me a dime.

Please explain what y'all don't like about Harrah's management.

I do know that when they took over the Rio, the player's club got much stingier. I used to get comps and discounts there fairly frequently, but when Harrah's took over, they dried up.

Once they had gobbled up all these properties....they just screwed 'em up....at least for mid to low rollers (IMO, of course). Player's club got very, VERY tight with comps and even most discounts. REALLY screwed up the table games. Rules (in particular black jack) became a joke, table minimums bounced up, in many cases WAY up. Used to love the Barbary Coast (for example), they've run that property into the ground. Can't believe the table minimums at the IP.....just way too high, for a dump like that. We used to stay at the Flamingo (wife loves the pool), but it's gotten pretty run down. Same with Bally's (although the north tower rooms have been spruced up).

In looking at some of the room offers we've been getting from them lately (and we stopped staying, or playing, at HET properties YEARS ago), it's come back to bite them. I won't give them another penny, though....

Of course, that's just us. I know there are still folks who are still very loyal to HET properties...not trying to offend anyone who is!

Ditto all that. Most of Vegas is corporate-owned and operated, of course, but some casinos manage to not feel that way. I wouldn't put HET in that category.

If in Reno, put it in a $1 Wheel of Fortune machine, then thank me later!

(never been so happy to have a delayed flight home...)

Loved the Stardust sports book. Great place to watch and wager. Still have one of those cheap key chains they used to give out hanging in the office.

I won't come out and call it a bait & switch, but when I called today (I got the e-mail with those rates yesterday) there were no rooms available at any of the Harrah's properties for the listed $107 rate. The phone rep (who was really cool and VERY helpful) pointed out that March Madness is huge for them and people book rooms well in advance (can't argue with that).
So, I canceled the Imperial Palace reservation and re-booked into the Flamingo for $125 on the Friday and $107 for the Saturday. That'll have to do. Everything else was much more expensive.
Thanks for everybody's input and keep the thread rolling with Vegas stories.

Talked to my sister today. She's staying at the Rio right now. Said they're offering rooms for $20 for the next couple of weeks to celebrate their 20th anniversary. They got their room tonight for $49 and she said all the other places on the Strip like Bally's were over $100 for a Friday night. She also said they have killer deals on food right now, something like $24 a day to eat all you want. They spent the last couple nights at the Venetian and while she said the rooms were awesome, they were also something like $150 a night.
