Vegas bound. Any ideas?

Oatman, AZ is about 45 minutes from Laughlin. Practically a ghost town. Biggest attraction is the free-roaming wild donkeys who hang out in the town. Lots of fun for 2-3 hours.

Mrs. and I have had a 6 six day LV trip planned (early April) for quite a while. Due to work conflicts on her part, we had to shorten it to a 3 day trip. Long story short, she's now decided there's no reason for me to get shorted & re-booked my ticket for the start of the week.

Yes, I now have 4 solo days in Vegas. I find the possibilities to be mind boggling......

You're going to be there for 4 days before she arrives?

You'll be lucky to be alive. Good think you're a Vegas veteran, and should know how to pace yourself.

    Cool wife, btw.

Someone else mentioned this, but we opted instead for the jet boat to Lake Havasu City. Pretty cool day.
Laughlin has everything Vegas has, except a) entertainment; b) attractive people.

Where did you stay in Laughlin?

YF, I married way, WAY up.

Plans are coming together nicely. Going to concentrate my part of the trip downtown. Stay at the Nugget, low roll my way around the tables for a couple days. Hearing lots about some new restaurants (Pizza Rock, Pinches Tacos) that have sprung up. As always, have a few too many at the Main Street Station 777 brewpub.

First full day in town is the NCAA hoops championship game, need to find a spot to settle in for that. Thinking about catching a 51's game, as well. Anyone taken in a game at Cashman??

Years ago (believe it was 1988 or 89) I saw the Las Vegas Stars (a Padres AAA team then) play the Tucson Toros. Solid little diversion for me, but again I am a baseball fanatic. Cashman isn't like the new-style minor league parks that's for sure although it may have been fixed up since I was there.

Stayed at Harrah's. Main reason we went there was because I've been in its Total Rewards program for years and the midweek room was free. Stayed four nights.
The hotel was just fine. It has a smaller no-smoking casino with about 6 tables and some slots, and a no-smoking bar that is separate from the bigger main casino.
Weird thing: The sports book did not have the NCAA games on, none. They were on throughout the casino and restaurants, but not the sports book. All horse racing. Later one evening we caught a Sharks-Ducks game on one side TV in the sports book, but even though there were still NCAA games going, the horse TVs went dark when the card was finished.
We liked all of the restaurants (didn't try the buffet, we try to avoid buffets). Went to the Riverside one afternoon because my watch battery died and they have a big watch shop. It seemed a little seedier.

That is really strange about no NCAA games on in the sports book. Not surprised you liked all the restaurants. I've never been to a Harrah's I didn't like.

Oddly, I've never stayed at the Harrah's in Vegas. Using the Total Rewards, I have stayed at the Rio, Planet Hollywood, Bally's, Flamingo and Paris. Might try Harrah's on the next Vegas trip, but I really like the Orleans, and it's Boyd Gaming, not Total Rewards.

That doesn't sound too strange that a smallish (relative to others on the Strip) sports book like Harrah's wouldn't show NCAA games live. They'll make money every minute selling horse bets but there's no new money to be made during a 2.5-hour basketball game.

Speaking of, has anyone used the prop-bet-during-game devices that some of the casinos have now? Like at The Cosmopolitan? I played around with them during one weekend but they haven't seemed to catch on at all.
