Vegas bound. Any ideas?

    I knew better, but Emeril's is still a no-go.

The remodeled rooms at the MGM are decent, and the one I saw briefly at Excalibur, believe it or not, wasn't half bad, considering the joint.

The beer / pub thing seems to be taking hold. One down by the Monorail, another in MGM.

Was in Vegas for four nights. Bought exactly one drink (did my drinking on the casino floor) and spent 20 minutes in one of the Cosmopolitan's bars having a glass of some quality rum on my last night to celebrate some modest gains in roulette. That constitutes the sum total of how long I was in a bar for the whole trip (not counting the sports book).

That's how long it took for me to be propositioned for a threesome by two of Vegas's eager working ladies.

Since this was my first trip to Vegas, I don't know whether Vegas is slipping, or rather, and more likely, whether my solo stint at the bar was a giant Pavlovian Red X for hookers who saw a man in his early 40s whose presence screamed, "THIS GUY IS DESPERATE ENOUGH AND WILL PAY CASH ON THE BARRELHEAD FOR TRIM!"

But to quote Jim Brown from Slaughter's Big Rip-Off, "Hey man, I don't buy no pussy."

Wasn't sure how much I was going to dig Vegas before I came, but it's a wonderful, in some ways ugly, in some ways beautiful, excessive, crazy, fucked-up place in the best sense of the term. Had a fun time and did reasonably well on the floor and held my own in the sports book (though my Friday college football super parlay was laughably bad). Nothing to retire on, but have some decent stacks in my wallet.

I shall return. Ride on Vegas.

The Harrah's Laughlin sports book is a funky little place. They will take bets on anything, but 99% of the time, they concede their tvs to horse racing. In fact, Golden Nugget up the street does the same thing, although I understand at the Nugget, one of the bars becomes a football room on Sundays (to the immediate right when you walk in).

There are no good sports books in Laughlin.

I didn't use the app, but made a few in game wagers at Red Rock this year. At times, they will announce a line on a game at the beginning of a tv time out... like 3 minutes, 29 seconds into the third quarter of Spurs-Trailblazers game.

Hookers all over the place at the Aria this fall. You can find them at the bars. One approached my friend, said she had other friends she could call. It wasn't for our good looks.

Anything new in the last few months worth checking out?

Staying on the Strip, not going downtown. Thanks in advance.

I think there's some sporting event going on there tonight. Maybe you should head over to the MGM and see if it's happening.

I have come in and out on this thread so apologies if I missed this...

Going with a friend in a few weeks and wondering about this deal with the Spearmint Rhino. Says they waive the $44 cover if you call and use their free limo service.

What's the catch here? Why are they giving you something (two somethings) for nothing?

    What am I missing?

The cover is $44! Holy crap.

If works like other strip clubs, the girls pay for the right to work there. So, they're getting $44 from customers, a fee from dancers, sell over priced drinks, and get a cut of the money spent in VIP areas and the like.

    What a business.
