    I get it.

I've made the mistake of chasing things, the audio chain.

I bought the AS release of Fagan's Morph the Cat and liked it. But I can't do an A/B with it as I don't have it on anything but iTunes /fairtojudgeme

I wish they would do, and I think they will, depending on rights / contracts / is Fagan's Kamakiriaid.

I LOVE the stop action music video they did of Snowbound from the album. Look it up if you haven't seen it.

Got stupid lucky and found Serge Gainsbourg's "Historie de Melody Nelson" on vinyl stateside at a reasonable price.

For the uninitiated ... typical decadence in excelsis in terms of the concept from Gainsbourg, but the music is choice as fuck ... and I don't understand French anyway.

I am not The Vinyl Predictor!

I did not order that one, but did get the Hey! Album and the new Marvelous 3 release. Maybe I’ll add RSG, kinda pricey!

People are saying the recent M3 reunion and release of all their old stuff on vinyl is due to the rights to the recordings reverting back to the band after 25 years. Sounds about right.

How are people here about collectible vinyl--i.e. getting all the different colored records of a certain release and/or just stacking up copies of the same record b/c you love the record and the band? I don't have a record player so I stick to CDs unless I want something as a collectible, but collecting & stacking vinyl is popular on the FB pages I follow.

I have a ton of old vinyl. Been years since I bought any. I listen to a lot of music but any more it's digital sourced over the computer or phone, going through a set of Bluetooth Sennheisers.

It's not audiophile but I can listen to almost anything I want to hear at will.

I'm more at the "I need to get rid of some of this" stage than the collecting end of it.

I'm happy to get one good pressing of a record I like. I'll get a different version if it's going to be a significant sound upgrade over what I have, but I don't go for all the different variations of a single record. I'm much more of a listener than a collector. For example, I have a beat up old copy of "Who's Next" and they just remastered it, so I will probably upgrade to that soon, but I wouldn't get it just to have it on blue vinyl or whatever.

(One exception to this: I have multiple versions of "True Colours" by Split Enz because it's one of my favorite records, they did several different color combinations of the cover, and they tend to be dirt cheap.)

    The prices have gone crazy.

Can't believe Biden let to get to this point /nopolitics!

Every pressing is different. Some are crap, others great.

The shitshow that discogs.com is becoming can still give a look see at what pressings to look for.

IMO doesn't what how anyone listens to music, get what works for you and enjoy.

I am similar. I recently bought a second copy of Steely Dan’s “Pretzel Logic”, but only because the original one I had was scratchy.

I do have some colored LPs, but it’s just a coincidence. I didn’t buy them because of that.

I just want the best sound. Old, new, doesn’t matter to me. Some new pressings are great, others are shit. My son got a new “Led Zeppelin IV” and it sounds awful. I have a first-year “Exile On Main Street” and it sounds amazing.

I tend to buy different kinds of albums on LP than I did CDs. Albums, regardless of genre, that are sonically interesting.

Why has vinyl made such a comeback? I have a couple of friends who seem appalled when I say that I just stream music through an Amazon Echo or off my phone. Is it the double IPA of the music world?

It feels that way to me, at least with the younger generation. Everyone posting here obviously had albums when they were kids, so there's nothing faux or ironic about going back to the well. I appreciate anyone who wants to reward the artist a little bit, and albums have always looked great. But I find listening to albums inconvenient. Who wants to get up every 15 minutes and worry about scratching the record? I like to buy CDs, burn them and listen on my computer. Which makes me a relic too!

Oh, you aren't using this retro equipment? What a geezer!

I still don’t get those retro hipsters looking for cassettes — and there are some, apparently.

Cassette tapes sounded horrible, were inconvenient to find individual songs, and not durable at all.

The only thing they had going for them was portability … and obviously there are way better options for that now.
