NPR is about the only thing worth listening to on terrestial radio around here, and one of the only reasons I'd switch from XM to Sirius, because they have multiple public radio feeds (NPR Now, NPR Talk, PRI) compared to XMPR, which does have the Bob Edwards Show, so points to it).

I like most of the shows on this list, and I'd throw in Michael Feldman's Whad'ya Know?, which is an intoxicating mix of quiz show, light-hearted talker and jazz quartet. Highly good stuff.

CPP is great on that show. Well, they all are, but he's really good.

There you go, my man crush is exposed. (Jones was taken, so I heard, by Ragu. hence why mine is on CPP instead.)

Love WWDTM. Wasn't the host a fill-in one week for Roger Ebert on the TV show, or am I thinking of someone else?

Huge fan of "Wait wait". It reminds me of some of the radio quiz shows I would listen to on the BBC growing up.

Radio Lab (weekly) and The Diane Rehm Show (daily) are my favorite NPR/PRI/BBC/Podcast shows. This American Life, Travel w/ Rick Steves and The Splendid Table pull honorable mentions.

Public radio rules. Even during membership drives.

Diane's throat does sound like it's about to give out, though.

I'm always afraid Diane is going to keel over. Anybody know how old she is?

Wow. She does good work. I enjoy listening to her, it just sounds like she's in distress and about 105 years old.

From a web profile, which put Rehm's age at 71:

In 1998, her career nearly came to a halt because of a mysterious speech problem. She took a leave of absence from the show and saw specialist after specialist until, finally, she was diagnosed and treated for spasmodic dysphonia, a neurological disorder.
