How does Oxford fit the airport requirement? Proximity to Memphis?

Nevermind. Just realized Eden violates No. 6.

    Has anyone suggested Athens, Georgia?
    College town, close to Atlanta.
Chattanooga is a fine, fine city. Plus Tennessee has no state income tax.
Most of my world revolves around the South so cities like Atlanta, Memphis, Little Rock, Nashville, plus the SEC outposts in between.
All have the cities have some charm, plus most have either a decent college scene or a major college town close. Like Oxford to Memphis or Athens to Atlanta.
Just that they are all hot as hell come summertime.

Eh, you just stay inside with the air running all day. Then spend the evening sipping mint juleps on the verandah (or beers on the porch).

Ignore write-brained. He thinks he's one of the cool kids at the junior high lunch room table now, so he's going to share his opinion, even though it's worthless and incorrect.

Middle of nowhere is a relative term. I guess if I was raised on 79th and Broadway it would be.

FYI, I have no idea where W_B grew up.

I also have a feeling Spnited thinks anything north of Times Square is the middle of nowhere.

Pretty accurate. I did about five years in St. Pete, and there's just no "there" there. Zero sense of community. That didn't bother me so much when I was in my 20s and only cared about my next golf game, but in my 30s with a family, I couldn't stand it. Headed back north. Figured I could get my fill of Florida winters through vacations.

It's a strange area. It's the most densely populated county in the state, I believe. Which means you drive and drive and see mini mall after strip mall.

But, tehnically, St. Pete ends about halfway up the county. Clearwater Beach is nice. Dunedin is really nice (Honeymoon Island, neat little downtown). There's also Safety Harbor and Tarpon Springs (a little touristy, but cool).

Of course, Tampa is next door. Ybor City is good for bars and restaurants. Hyde Park if you've got lots of money.

Not to mention a very good airport.

But, I see your point about a well-developed city center. It's better than it was 15 years ago, but still not up to snuff compared with other cities of similar size.

Wow. That just seemed so ... unnecessary.
