Just quoting this to show how much the perception of RVA has changed in the last decade or so. I think this was very much true in 2008, not so much as we head to 2022. We're basically trying to keep the NOVA people out at this point.

Wow, Frank Ridgeway. Didn't he pass as well? A solid 6 as a poster (and not a bad guy in Eddie and the Cruisers).

My Michigan friend tells me Ypsilanti is a dump. And the closest I'll ever get to that $150K house in Mt. Pleasant is the CMU sweatshirt I've requested for Christmas. UP Chip could give me the local lowdown, I think he's a CMU grad.

I'll continue my search for the best (cheaper) college town I'll never move to.

I send love to those of us lost over the years.

    And ask a language question:

Zombie thread or not, can a "hometown" be changed?

Isn't your home town the place you grew up?

I know Athens, Ga., is more expensive now because everywhere is, but it still may be a bargain compared to the west coast. To me it is the best college town in the SEC.

I tried linking them from a Google folder but it didn't work apparently. I uploaded one of them and here are the rest.

I've lived in Ypsilanti. Aside from the EMU campus, most of the city is, indeed, a dump.

How long ago? I have lived in Perrysburg for a decade now and go down to BG for things.

When I found out that Richmond has both Wegmans and Publix, I almost called the movers.

Home is home is home. Temporal delineations are idiosyncratic.

ESPN did that a long time ago. Good luck finding the documentary series.
