The "worst-case scenarios" were more like 30%.

But that's precisely the problem. These are not consenting adults--there are huge agency costs that prevent "owners" from choosing and paying management at the optimal level. Why put up all the money for a proxy fight when you will only receive a small portion of the benefit?

To adjust for this, we have all sorts of corporate governance law that are intended to help lower these agency costs. But when these laws fail to do this--as out-of-control executive compensation suggests they do--it erodes trusts in the public market more generally.

Well, been on vacation a while hobnobbing among those with breakaway wealth in Martha's Vineyard.

    A few thoughts:

If Texas wants to secede, I'm all for it. We'll keep the rest of the federal dollars for other states that need it.

Looks like Obama's finally taking a stand on the debt ceiling. Wonder how far Cantor is gonna take this charade. One thing's for sure, the rest of the world wouldn't be too thrilled if we default on our debt.

All the "shovel-ready" ones? I have no clue. But we spent $1.1 trillion to find out.

"Where's the budget?" is right up there with "Where's the birth certificate?"

Right, because you say it is. How completely irrational, asking for a budget from your elected representatives. Az, you have said plenty of ignorant things...but this one might top them all. What, am I a "budgeter?" Let me guess, asking for a budget is racist, right? No one asked any of the white presidents for budgets. No one complained about congress' budget until a black man was in office, huh? Is this where you are trying to take this? Simply an awful statement...but very much characteristic of most of your pap.

Why are you and Krauthammer the only ones asking such a ridiculous question?

The budget - as demonstrated - was delivered in February.
