    "Where's Wooster?"
    Does it really matter?

BTW, another thought that kept occuring to me during this film: I'd love to go down and see that memorial. I came away extremely impressed with this film. I was afraid that this flick was gonna get Disneyed up. What changed my mind on seeing it was a one hour documentary A&E aired on the making of the film. The first day that the cast and crew was in Huntingdon they visited the memorial and, sitting there in an envelope, was a four page letter addressed to them telling them what their responsibilities were in telling this story. The crew made photocopies and passed it around.

Always, always, always have loved Straithairn.

Eight Men Out, L.A. Confidential, The Firm, Good Night/Good Luck, A League of Their Own ... all of them are very high on my list of favorite movies. He plays sometimes-small-but-always-memorable roles in them all.

He's also supposed to be in the third Jason Bourne movie (not that I needed another reason to anticipate THAT!) coming out later this year.

So if he's in "Marshall" ... that means I'll be seeing it. :D

About the only thing missing from this movie was Ian McShane (Al Swearengen from "Deadwood") dropping a "cocksucker" in there. I know it wouldn't happen but ...

... And yeah, I nearly cried at one point. They set up the movie very, very well.

Saw it today. I cried throughout. In fact, my eyes are still stinging.

Excellent movie. YUM Matthew! I even liked the checkerboard pants.

    Anyhow.

One thing I feel compelled to share: Went to see the 4:10 showing and a group of what-looked-to-be college kids walked in, maybe 10 of 'em, and ALL of them were wearing "We are Marshall" sweatshirts. Not sure if they were alumni or what. I don't live very close to WV -- so, found it odd ... but inspiring.

It helps to be a college football fan . . . but REALLY liked it.

good interview with Jack Lengyel . He does not seem to have a problem with changes.

    That's good enough for me.

  9. I thought this movie was a complete, utter, and thoroghgoing mess. McConaghey looked and sounded stoned through the whole thing. None of the minor characters was developed beyond the obviously cardboard -- what happened to the kid who overslept? He has one scene on the roof and that's it? -- and the agonized McShane-waitress scenes got pretty damned hilarious the fourth time around.
I am the Grinch on this one, yes.

Was this Bill (father) and Will (son who died) Hancock? I know Bill quite well (I've worked two Olympics with him) and knew Will from Sydney. That was definitely a sad story.

"This wasn't "The Titanic." It wasn't OK to create 90 minutes of entertaining fiction as long as the boat sank in the end.

This was real. All of this really happened."

and the Titanic sinking didn't? Oh wait, anyone who would care about the distorted facts of that night is dead anyways so who cares, right?
