The common thread being Foster and Burress were both knuckleheads, but they were talented enough to be good players anyway.

    Roethlisberger has beautiful footwork.

Dalton has great poise in the face of a biggun' who's about to drive him into the turf.

Bengals 17-10, middle 3rd, good game.

Remember when LaMarr Woodley was a really good player? Man, that seems like a long time ago.

Edit: Make that two really stupid penalties by Woodley.

This is going to be a very long year.

The Bengals were so much easier to enjoy when they were narrated by Liev Schreiber in the preseason.

I hope Mike Tomlin is starting to feel uncomfortable about his job performance; he has a ton of problems to fix.

Given the Rooney family's history of patience, I don't think he really is on the hot seat yet.

Should he be? Probably. He has now had two playoff-caliber teams fall apart, finding one ugly way to lose after another until they missed the playoffs. The Steelers did it last year and they did it in 2009, when they were coming off a Super Bowl against an insanely easy schedule and somehow managed to miss the post-season. He has had too many games in which the team didn't even seem ready to play.

The same sloppy mistakes that cost them last year are still happening far too often, but this year that is probably going to be the reason they struggle to win six games rather than just missing the playoffs. This is the least talented team Tomlin has had and so far he doesn't seem capable of coaching them up. The line actually looked okay now that they had some practice time to adjust to losing Pouncey. By okay, I mean they were merely bad last night, not awful as they were in the opener.

The defense clearly has no replacement for Larry Foote at inside linebacker. Both guys who played there last night were awful. They were lucky to give up only 20 points last night, mostly because Dalton was too erratic and missed too many open receivers on third downs. They aren't going to get that lucky every week.

I think Tomlin at least gets the 2014 season to turn things back around and that's probably wise. This is still a coach who has taken two teams to the Super Bowl and won it once, but the more recent trend is disturbing.

Haley goes well before Tomlin and it will probably be an off season move.

Tomlin would have to stink for 3-4 years before the plug is pulled and this is year one.

  11. Tomlin's has no threat to his job security this year. NONE.
    Haley? He's gone.
    LeBeau? Prolly gone as well.
I think the Steelers are going to be lucky to get six wins and there will be additional overhaul of players and personnel at the end of the year. And Tomlin is the only one who is safe.

Roethlisberger was less than sharp last night and he's responsible for two of the team's three turnovers inside the Red Zone this season.
The defense, once again put little pressure on Dalton and he picked them apart. The same was true last week.
This team is awful on both sides of the ball.

I would love to see Clowney with the Steelers. I don't know if they're quite that bad, but they're probably close. I think the Raiders are probably better than the Steelers this year.

Tomlin's not going anywhere and the Steelers will be fine in a year or two. People just overreact because they've been spoiled for a long time.

As someone who had his own favorite team have 20 years of greatness, followed by 10 years of shit, it does happen to every team eventually.
