What would piss off Steeler fans worse?.....dumping LeBeau or Tomlin?

I don't think either will get "fired" I could see LeBeau being encouraged to retire. The guy is 76.

    He looks like he's 55.

LeBeau has always struck me as the type of guy who will kick within a year of retiring...

This is not news. I haven't checked the 2013 numbers, but the NFL draft routinely gets better TV ratings than NBA playoff games in the same time slot. And that isn't even actual football.

Dick LeBeau and Monte Kiffin will have to be carried off the field. Seriously, unless they are in failing health and physically can't get out there, I don't see either one ever retiring.

  7. The Steelers sucked for most of the 1980s.

  8. Steeler fans? Keeping Tomlin and dumping LeBeau.

But I think he needs to retire.

They made the playoffs four times and won two division titles. It certainly wasn't the 70s, but they weren't that bad...

  10. They also had four non-winning seasons.

The latter half of the 1980s, when the last of the super bowl-caliber players were gone ('85 on), demonstrated the team's inability to rebuild the franchise.

It was easily the team's worst decade of football in 40 years.

I'm not suggesting the team is in trouble, only in transition.

Everything is relative. You win four titles in a decade or so, you get spoiled. I was the same way with the Niners with their four titles in 14 years stretch.

I agree they're just in transition. There's no reason to think the Steelers won't be a decent team in a year or two.

Has there been some kind of culture change in Pittsburgh that would make Tomlin more susceptible than the previous two guys? He has never had a losing season and has won a Super Bowl and been to another one. Maybe the Rooneys aren't really in charge anymore, I don't know, but blitzing him would be a pretty un-Rooney-like decision.
