The kick in Detroit will get much needed attention - probably will stay on the books until another late half situation in Denver with the wind at your back. - but that throw by Jackson to set up the kick was sweet.

Research Morris Stroud of the AFL Chiefs. He was 6-10 or so and they used to put him back there to try and bat away long FG attempts. That's now illegal.
Several years ago in a similar situation (little time left, opponent inside their own 20 or 30), Cal's coach told his DBs to just tackle all the WRs at the LOS. They did. They got penalized, but about 10 seconds ran off while the QB was looking for a receiver. Penalty was 10 yards, they didn't give up a long completion, and time ran out on the next play. I'm surprised more teams don't do this.

I think the chance making that FG as time expires has to be greater than giving Mahomes the ball back to tie.

I'd have guessed Bill Maher before Brett Maher.

Matt Nagy is a piece of shit who should never call an NFL play again.

Ryan Pace is a piece of shit for drafting Justin Fields and giving him that abortion of an offensive line.

    Fire everyone.

The Steelers have injuries piling up on both sides of the ball. Today, they lost Smith-Schuster to a rib injury. Those injuries certainly showed on defense today. Their streak of games with a sack came to an end against a team that does not protect its quarterback well. That's going to happen when you are missing three defensive linemen and two outside linebackers, including the best edge rusher in the game.

The offense, however, is a disaster. The line is a big problem, but this one was on Roethlisberger. He made one horrible decision after another all afternoon. Both interceptions were incredibly stupid plays by Roethlisberger. He took multiple sacks on plays that he had ample opportunity to throw it away. He had a few decent moments, but that win over Buffalo is looking more and more like a fluke. Mike Tomlin's first losing season is coming this year.

I honestly think the Steelers have to consider benching Roethilsberger. Blame it on the injured pectoral muscle if they must, but he was that bad.

IIRC, either the Ravens or 49ers -- can't remember which Harbaugh was responsible -- did that on offense. They were up two scores with about 15 seconds left and backed up to their own goal line. They were taking the intentional safety anyway, so the linemen, receivers and everyone else absolutely mauled every defender on the field while the quarterback ran around until all the time was gone. They ran off all of the time before finally taking the safety.
It caused a stir at the time, but I don't know if they changed any rules because of it. Not sure if they could change any rules, to be honest.

On the flip side, my Bengals win in Pittsburgh about once a decade and are 2-1. Stop the season now.

I think I remember reading the only guy to bat down a ball at teh goal post was R.C. Owens for the Forty-Niners.
