Jerome Bettis had done a hell of a lot more to prove himself in the NFL by the time the Rams traded him than Richardson had done. He played three full seasons for the Rams, including a rookie season during which he ran for 1,429 yards and averaged 4.9 yards per carry. He regressed badly the two seasons that followed, but the example of his rookie season was still there.

If the Chiefs finish 8-8 or better, the 49ers get their second-round pick in 2014. (Otherwise it's a 3.) This is in addition to the 49ers getting the Chiefs' second-rounder in 2013, which the 49ers traded to accumulate other 2014 picks.

A mistake is a mistake. But I thing we, as a society as a whole, are too quick to give up on people the second things don't go according to plan. Pro football is a hard business, playing or coaching. You've got to do your homework and be in it for the long haul, which I figure the Eagles are. Not sure what the Browns' plan is right now. I hope they get a superstar with their draft pick.

Oh God, you can't help yourself can you? You just have to bring the Steelers into every damn discussion.

Except the sample size is too small to even call it a mistake at this point. They need to make some adjustments to the offense and learn to work the clock better. They'll figure it out.
Tonight's game was a classic crappy Michael Vick game. He has a few of them every year. As long as he's the QB, it's something they'll have to live with. It's nothing you can change at this point, so it's not worth freaking out over. You deal with it and move on.

Chiefs could win a lot more than 9. They have Oakland twice, Cleveland, Buffalo and Tennesee.

There's really only three games they shouldn't be favored in the rest of the way -- Denver twice and Houston.

I was praying when it was 16-9 that the Eagles would score a TD, except because of that garbage with the first PAT they would only have tied it instead of taken the lead, and then the Chiefs win in overtime. That would have been too great for Philly radio.

Oh G-d, you can't help yourself, can you? You just have to bend and warp reality to act like a troll in every damn discussion.

93Devil brought up Bettis, not me. Perhaps you are just too dense to understand who he was talking about.

Kansas City is an extremely competent team. That and a fourth place schedule should put them in the playoffs.

Before the weekend, a moment of irony. There's a product out there called "The X Collar," which is a neck roll designed to break away when it's grabbed. Its intent is to prevent dangerous horse collar tackles -- the defender grabs the collar and it breaks off instead of letting the runner get dragged down.
Anyway, I'll give you three guesses on who the perfect spokesman for this product is.
Yep. Roy Williams, the inventor of the horse collar tackle.

Just FYI, Roy Williams didn't invent the the horse-collar tackle -- defenders were grabbing runners by the back of the shoulder pads before he was born. He just used it often (and flagrantly) enough to get the league to do something about it.
