Probably not, but that's not the point.

IF IF IF Kap's success was due in great part that teams had no idea how to handle him and IF IF IF the past two weeks are evidence that teams have figured out how to handle him . . . . then Kap > Smith only lasted for a handful of games, and one Super Bowl runner-up finish doesn't keep Kap on top indefinitely.

Take out the Seahawks, and the remaining 5 NFC playoff participants from last year are a combined 3-12.

An interesting day today on the sports talk airwaves in NY, Washington and Pittsburgh no doubt. At least Pittsburgh has the Pirates (how long since someone could say that).

Biggest train wreck potential to me is in Florida, but not on the Atlantic coast. Just get the feeling Schiano could be losing that locker room, and things could snowball fast if that team simply quits on him. At least jacksonville showed a little life in a very tough road environment yesterday.

Smith is doing in KC what he did in SF in 2011. He's playing well enough to get his team to the playoffs, but nobody thinks he's the guy who can take a team to the Super Bowl, even though, he came so damn close doing that in 2011.

Right now, Kaepernick looks like a player who other teams have figured out. That's not completely uncommon for guys in their second season as starters, but it's interesting that Kaepernick could look so good against a team like the Packers and look completely dumbfounded against the Seahawks and Colts.

Jets are 2-1, Chiefs are 3-0, the season is a fraud.

Giants problem is GM Jerry Reese, the O-line got old together and wasn't replaced, the d-line got old and hurt, the linebackers have sucked for years and Spider Lockhart may have been the last Giants' CB to be a Pro Bowl player.
Eli is the best QB since YA, these are the best receivers the Giants have ever had, but that's it. If Coughlin unvoluntarily goes, then Reese needs to go with him and the Giants need to start from scratch.

Miami has a very good defense and a quarterback that has quickly matured.
    The Dolphins have Fart's respect.

The Titans are a blown play away from being 3-0 and atop their division.

Of course, 2-1 is much different than 3-0, and as such, they remain further below the radar than a worm wearing stealth clothing.

Edit: LTL made the same point earlier; but I'll let mine stay least I lose my /TitansFanboi cred.

The Giants' loss is the Colts' gain. Bradshaw looked pretty damn good yesterday against the 49ers.

Such a great pick-up by Indy.

I don't think Coughlin is in trouble, but I could see him retiring after this season.

Kaep is in a slump, some of his throws are straight into the ground, but at least from the couch does not appear that he's missing guys wide open either. The guys that mad ehim look good last year, the dominating OL, and Crabtree and Davis, are not around or are being dominated.

Its not like Kaepernick was a gimmick last year, running around in a veer offense and faking everyone out. The vast majority of his yards came from standard drop backs or play actions (remember when he shredded the Bears? Or beat the Falcons on the road? or the SB?)

The biggest change is the OL is getting torched; they cannot get any push in the running game. Anthony Davis, last years best graded RT (PFF), is having all sorts of problems, run and pass blocking, and besides Boone, everyone else is getting handled as well.

Its early; Ravens did not look like champs in Sept. last year either.

I just think the reality is that, with the possible exception of Seattle, which has yet to have a tough road game, although, maybe Carolina is better than anyone expected based on yesterday's game, there probably isn't going to be a 12-win team in the NFC.

    Wilson > Kaepernick
    Tannehill > Kaepernick
