Yeah, my wife didn't have a good day. Carolina lost, ECU lost (she despises anything Liberty), and where she works got stroked. At least the Vols won. I just looked and will tell her Louisburg won. That will make her happy even though I don't think they had football when she played softball there.

It was a 4 1/2-hour lightning delay in Lynchburg for a game that was supposed to start at 6 p.m.

We got a little bit of that over our way by around 9:15, which is when I went to bed last night because I ended up walking more than 10 miles photographing our guys at the U.S. Mid-Am. I get why media don't get carts at USGA events, but that was a logistical nightmare with our guys spread all over two golf courses, both of which there is no easy way to navigate between nines. I'll be happy when we're back at one course for match play starting Monday. We'll probably lose at least half of our contingent by then anyway.

Watched a bit of Cal-FSU because I'm a sicko, and at the end of the first half, whoever the color guy was kept bleating on about how FSU was leaving easy points on the field by going for it on 4th and 7 from the Cal 39 near the end of the half. Referred to it as "almost guaranteed points." It's a 56-yard field goal FFS. In no world is that guaranteed with college kicker. You can get on Norvell for a lot of things, but going for it in that spot is absolutely the right call.

How does VaTech lose to the state college of New Jersey?

Because Rutgers is a better program right now?

Proud Hokie alum, but Tech has not been a serious football program for at least a dozen years now. Looks like another 7-5 or 6-6 season with a trip to the Shitty McShit Bowl is on tap. I've accepted the mediocrity at this point.

As soon as the MAC builds some momentum with Northern Illinois' victory over Notre Dame and Toledo's romp over Miss State, both trip up. NIU falls to Buffalo in OT, while UToledo squanders a lead at Western Kentucky.

Simply put, the MAC is a league that can't have good things. Especially Toledo, where the men's basketball team is on a streak of four straight regular season titles, only to fall flat at the conference tournament every time.

Wound up making lunch money yesterday.

I think the easy preseason overs won’t be as easy to come by, from here on out.

I was at the WKU-Toledo tilt. Western has a very good defense, and they came to life after a 75-minute weather delay. Toledo got a big break, late, on a fumble that originally was ruled down by contact. But the Toledo QB threw his second pick in the final three minutes, by the same WKU defender, and the Rockets went home empty handed.

During the weather delay, ESPN's win probability for Toledo was 87.3 percent or something. They dominated before the weather delay.

Always wanted to cover a Shitty McShit Bowl, having covered bowl games in Mobile, Shreveport, Lafayette (LA, after Katrina), and a couple other outposts over the years.

Only placed one bet yesterday, took an alt spread on Oregon State-Purdue, -3.5 at +122. Fell asleep before halftime. Should have been more greedy. Easy win.

I only know that Penn State played a D-Ii level program yesterday. Borderline non-competitive.

Good thing you have Bama-Georgia next week, the rest of the sked is unwatchable.
