Can't see where anyone should ever be surprised or disappointed when their college coach moves on. No one stays anymore--those days are long, long gone.

He's what, 34 with one year of head coaching experience under his belt?

Go prove yourself. If you can do that, there will be plenty of opportunities to take whatever offers come your way.

Bullshit. If your dream job -- whatever it might be -- comes calling and you know you might need some more experience before you're ready (but that you'd do just fine anyway), you're taking that job. 100 times out of 100.

Exactly. If you put yourself in Lane Kiffin's place, you take that job. If you say you wouldn't, you're not being honest.

The Hamilton one is for real. We got a release from the school announcing it. I'm not sure about the one in Texas. One of our writers said it a few minutes ago. I've searched in the meantime and can't find anything firm on it.

I mean, Kiffin is young enough that he could have stayed at UT and taken the USC job next time it comes open. Then again, who's to say he'd get the offer to take the job in 5 or 10 years or whatever? If you're him, and that's your dream job, you take it. Now. Might not get another chance.

As for the other Kiffin's lofty status:

The Tampa 2 defense Monte ran at UT was exposed against spread offenses and the Wildcat. Do they run those in the Pac-10?

    ;)

Still, UT finished 4th in the SEC in total defense, 4th in pass D and 3rd in run D. Not too bad with a lot of other coaches' players.

IIRC, the D finished much higher than that the year before.

With the kids learning a new defensive system, what they did this year was pretty good.

    Bitter much?

buddy just sent me a text that said a UT jet was/is in Fayetteville.
If Petrino bolts the Piggies for Tennessee, Forde's going to cum in his pants when he hears the news.
