FWIW, Kippy Brown really blew many in the fanbase away at his presser a while ago.

I know that name won't excite all the fanboys around here (Hi Zags!) but he's the interim HC for now, and he's got a pretty impressive track record.

Joe Schad has some decent Facebook updates from the AD press conference. Said he used one word to answer how he would describe Kiffin's tenure: Brief.

Can you give your head coaching job to someone named Kippy?

Um, as opposed to someone named Lane?

Do we know if the UT secretaries get their jobs back?

While that exact scenario isn't touched on in this article, it does confirm Orgeron offering Tennessee early enrolees. And I've read it your scenario in too many places to think there's not something to it.

Not sure how I feel about Kiffin yet, but he probably was the best candidate who made himself available and USC had to act quickly. (My kid said: Jeez, even the Raiders didn't want him. Trojans are screwed.)
But Zagoshe's otherwise solid list is only flawed by calling him a vagabond.
He did the various grad asst. gigs, then got his first real job as a position coach at USC in 2001. Stayed there until he got the Raiders job. He was fired from that (hardly vagabond-ish), then got the Tennessee job.
It could be a knock on him that he left Tennessee after only one year, but I don't think the vagabond label fits ... yet.

Since EE's don't sign a LOI until Feb. 2 can they enroll and leave without repercushions?

According to the UTAD today -- no. They are officially UT students.

There's been a little bit of debate here about the EE.

Everyone I've heard from seems to think they're free to go where they want until they attend their first class. Supposedly the Tennessee AD today said they were locked in if they were on campus at 12:01 a.m. this morning. I haven't seen anything definitive either way.

Looming probation aside, I believe the USC job is the best in the country. Huge recruiting base, great school, great tradition, and while there's pressure to win, it's nowhere close to the pressure at Bama, Florida, Ohio State or Notre Dame.

Tennessee is a great job too. If USC is in the top five, I would say Tennessee is in the top 20, especially since, until Kiffin, coaches had a history of staying there a long time.

See, I don't think that USC is that much better.

Look at the recent hires for both.

USC just hired a football coach with a mediocre record and a penchant for doing and saying stupid stuff.

Tennessee's last hire was a guy straight from the NFL.

Hearing that Doug Dickey may come out of retirement to take the job.
