I wonder why NCAA schools haven't written in non-competes into their contracts. Figure a 15-day sit out will at least give schools who suddenly lose a coach a chance to hire a new one. Losing a coach and having him and his staff feast on the suddenly defenseless carcass of their previous school just seems all kinds of wrong to me.
Anyone know what the deal is with the rest of Lane's staff not named Orgeron or Kiffin? Wasn't his brother in law his QB coach?

    What a douchebag.

Why should any recruit listen to a word this clown says?...

Unbelievable. "We're going to run a clean program" ... yeah, right.

USC and Kiffin deserve each other. Good luck, University of Spoiled Children.

I'm sure the whole "on campus at 12:01" thing is figuratively speaking in terms of being enrolled in class, not whether their physical being was on campus property. That being said, I don't know what the rule is as far as being enrolled or actually showing up at a class.

If it's enrolled, those guys are all locked. This crap hit the fan about 8:00-8:30 the other night, and I'm sure there was no one in the enrollment office to take their names off the list between then an midnight.

And, if I'm another student and show up to class the next morning where the professor is taking roll ... some guy I know that's bolted name is called, I'm going to shout "HERE" as loud as I can and let them and Orgeron sort it out later if they had actually left ;D

Kiffin runs the 4- 3 under - same D that Carrol runs as he learned it from Kiffin.

Thought they did a pretty good job against FLA spread but it was only game I watched UT this year.

Clearly USC was exposed vs Spread this year.

For 4- 3 under to work you have to have dominant D line with end that can defend the Edge. You also need fast OLB's that can cover faster players.

Vulnerability on running plays are backs breaking out to 2nd level. Puts a lot of pressure on Strong safety to make plays.

Funny how some of Ed Orgeron's recruits had higher ethics than the coach himself:

    http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2010/jan/14/orgeron-imbroglio-lane-kiffin-believes-more-he-kno/

"Jeff Bray said his son, former Kingsburg (Calif.) High quarterback Tyler Bray, was in a room Tuesday when Orgeron made his pitch to a group of players via speaker phone.

"He didn't think it was very cool," Jeff Bray said of his son's reaction to the presentation. "You're in the middle of all this turmoil and they're trying to pull players.... My understanding was a lot of (the players) got very angry and voiced their anger on the phone."

Would not be surprised to see non-competes become the next trend in college coaching. And not just a few days or weeks, but a year or longer.

Neuheisel is on with Dan Patrick right now - don't know if it was a gag - but he was supposedly going to get Norm Chow on the phone to confirm that he was staying at UCLA - but Norm had left to "look at some film."

If Chow stays at UCLA - Kiffin, his dad and Orgeron don't seem quite as impressive without Chow.

Is UCLA's offense great with Chow running it? I haven't seen enough to know, but I do know that I can't name a single offensive player on their team.

Neuheisel's early career is very similar to Kiffin's.
