And the AFA guy would have been perfect. He's used to dealing with a team full of players packing heat.

I'm glad Calhoun is staying. College football is so much better when the service academies have decent teams.

5:3 says David Cutcliffe is UT's new head coach by Sunday.

If Cutter turns it down, is there any way Leach gets a call?

If they offer, and get turned down, by the Duke coach ... whose greatest success came at Tennessee ... well Holy Shit.

It does surprise me that Calhoun is staying.

I'm guessing a lot of coaches are seeing a UT program in a panic, with an AD who might be on his way out.

Not exactly an attractive scenario to walk into, though the pay is certainly nice.

If it's Cut, who may be tempted to stick to the less stressful life at Duke, this could be over tonight.

I bet Bryce Brown is sorry that he did not sign on with "The U".

As a point of clarification - Air Force and the other service academies don't participate in National Signing day because they don't offer scholarships but require appointments. What kids sign that day are non-binding (on both sides) intentions to enroll, mainly so they can have something to sign.

Perhaps Lane Kiffin will change his mind and come back.

Thanks for the link. I especially loved this part:

Q: Is there any concern that you just hired a coach who has six minor infractions behind him at Tennessee, in a year, and you're bringing him into a program that's under scrutiny?

A: That doesn't quite make sense.

No kidding. But you're the one that made the hire, Garrett. As someone who isn't a USC fan, I don't mind the hire at all.
