If Sumlin has a shot at the UT job - he should take it. He has no shot at Texas, Stoops isn't leaving Oklahoma anytime soon, and Tennessee is better than anything else that may come open in the Big 12 in the near future.

Didn't ESPN say that Holtz wasn't a done deal at USF as well.

Sumlin hasn't done anything but lose to ECU with Art Briles' players. Dooley did a good job at Tech and recruited well for that school. Got them to a bowl game and played Boise State and LSU well.

Saban coached the Dolphins for two seasons.

Wow, I fucked that one up big time.

But actually, the fact that he was there for two (shows how underwhelming his time there was) but also lends some credence to the NFL to college can work.

Saban also had NFL experience with the Oilers and Browns as an assistant, of course.

Saban seems like a better of example of a college coach who goes to the NFL, doesn't do well, and goes back to college.

Sorry, I try very hard to forget about the Wanny/Bates/Saban/Cameron era. It all runs together in my mind.

And what does it say that out of that list Wanny was by far the most successful.......
