Wes Rucker of Chattanooga tweeted that Dooley just resigned from La. Tech.

Congratulations Tennessee. I hope you got what you wanted. But I don't think you did.

Good for Dooley, though. He deserved a step up last year and didn't get it. This is a great opportunity--Tennessee is still Tennessee even if Kiffin did set them back, and Dooley will be the anti-Lane Kiffin. At least Tennessee can feel like there is a stable guy in charge and not have to always worry about him bailing on 2 minutes notice, at the worst time possible.

I actually think the Vols have hit a (long term) home run with this. Granted I'm biased since I've known Derek a little since I was a kid and I think very, very highly of Vince and Barbara, who are very close friends with my parents.

He's got some work to do in the short term to get the UT fans behind him, but I think he's going to do a great job.

    We already went over that.

As a Dolphins fan it was a freudian slip as I try very hard to forget anything that happened after the second season of the Wanny era until the day they hired Bill Parcells. Everything in between that is a blur to me and an era I'd rather forget.

Hey. Saban DID coach in the NFL, didn't he?

What? Is Saban going somewhere? Did he coach Miami?

I'm trying to figure out where Kiffin not caring about the wants and needs of the press falls in the list of transgressions in Knoxville.

Speaking of Saban -- and someone may have already asked -- but if Tennessee offered $7 million a year, would Saban have taken it?

    Not really.

If they offered 10 cents more than Bama, he'd be out of there like shit through a goose.
