Interested to hear how access changes under Kiffin. Seemed like Carroll had completely open access to USC, imagine that will change with Baby Douche in charge.

Well guess what, thanks to the moronic decision by the TV idiot -- he DID dictate what content everybody got and it was a helluva lot less than it could have been.

And this is reason No. 34547462 why television reporters are not journalists, they are talking heads with bad hairdos and ugly ties, but not real journalists.

No real journalist would "stand his ground" in order to make sure there was LESS information available. And the fact that you continue to slam your hand on the table and say "YOU CAN'T TELL A STORY WITHOUT VIDEO" is only proving my point - because real journalists do it all the time.

I've written very long and informative articles with very few quotes many times based on what I was told in the background and behind the scenes.

There is absolutely no justification - none - for fucking everybody of the opportunity to get MORE information, which is what we were in the business.

Oh wait, I forgot, you got to show Tennessee who is boss.

Well guess what -- Tennessee has 110 K in the stands every week, they need you a helluva lot less than you need them and so yes, sometimes, we have to play by their rules.

I mean, what are you going to do when the NCAA as well as other sports leagues start restricting how much time you can put comments from their head coach on your air? And that is coming -- are you going to put your head in the sand and say "wah, wah, if we can't have it like we want it, nobody gets it?"

    Let's make another comparison:

    Coach A: 2 years, 15-17, no playoffs

Coach B: 9 years, 67-71, three division titles, four playoff appearances, one trip to conference championship

    Hmmmmm...

So, a real journalist does whatever he is told by the SID and never, ever sticks up for himself.

    Duly noted.

How long was Fisher, a hell of a coach, with the Oilers/Titans before making the playoffs?

Once he got it rolling, they were there to stay. But two years is not necessarily a fair sample size for an NFL coach.

If Satan hadn't bailed like a thief in the night after said two years, we might have a larger body of work to judge him on.

They would, if they only had one source of allegedly factual information and a heck of a lot of opinion columns on how Tennessee is doing their impression of China.

Then, when fans bitch about why there isn't any coverage, you tell them, "We'd love to, but Tennessee is telling us what to write and shoot."

Very interesting how, on this board, the majority are ripping the tv producer.

On the journalism board, the majority support him.

  11. I understand the sentiment, but do you really think that Tennessee fans would rally behind the journalist? Absolutely not. Even in a battle between Public Enemy No. 1 Lane Kiffin and a media member, Public Enemy No. 1 wins that battle going away.

Of course not. And the fans will get what they deserve. They'll get to live in la-la land and then, when something major breaks, they'll whine that the media is covering it up.
