    Who names their kid Nu'keese?

I'm just curious as hell about that.

It is interesting. But I've seen worse (or better, depending on your POV). Have no idea what the origin of that would be.

There was a runner at Ole Miss in the 50s named "Showboat" Boykin
Scored 7 TDs one day against MSU
    But that was a nickname.
    I'm guessing Nu'Keese is a given, birth-certificate name
(And apologies to the kid for not capitalizing the "K" on my first post)

Not surprisingly, Finebaum's still swinging. They're eating this up in Alabama.

Looks like former USC assistants are going to be 0 for 3. Have any former Carroll assistants succeeded as head coaches?
Didn't realize how deep the Kiffin blunders go. But I think he'll stay for now. The AD will be fired and then the Kiffin watch will begin.

As long as he keeps the fog machine in the closet, this news alone is why Lane Kiffin will soon be walking on water in Knoxville, minor infractions be damned:

No. 1 player in country coming to visit:

...while Joe Montana's son is also interested:

Just please don't refer to him as CLK.

Secondary violations are meaningless. Most major football and hoops school collects a few from time to time, and they rarely mean anything.

The timing of this is what makes it funny. Still, the cries to fire him are laughably ridiculous, even in the modern sports media world. I seem to remember an endless stream of columns that Meyer's sissyboy, West Coast, slapdick offense wouldn't hold up against SEC defenses. I remember others predicting that Lou Holtz and then Steve Spurrier would make South Carolina a national power. Remember how great Tennessee's new offensive coordinator was supposed to be last season? Yikes.

The Kiffins and that coaching staff could work. If it doesn't, the next coach will probably inherit a better roster than Houston Nutt did at Ole Miss this season, and we all saw how that worked out.

Ripping Kiffin for the past few weeks is appropriate. Saying he won't win is silly, and what's equally silly is ripping Tennessee's staff salary ... which is still behind Alabama, Florida and LSU.

That said ... Paul is a genius. He's the perfect personality for that neck of the woods, and he makes a killing off those folks. I haven't asked him, but I feel safe in assuming he's not worried about the economic climate.

I think secondary violations are ridiculous.

They are a product of too many rules laid out by too many bureaucratic idiots wearing ties at the NCAA.

Who gives a rat's ass if a guy uses smoke machines on a visit.

I think there is no question Kiffin will recruit his ass off and get a lot of great players and acquire enough talent to compete with the big boys in the SEC.

But it indeed will be interesting to see if he can get it done on Saturdays.
