Got to give Kiffin credit. He gets a rule "named" after him before even coaching a game.
Geez, a gathering of SEC coaches, it's like the steam room scene in Top Gun.
Spurrier: Your mouth is writing checks your team won't be able to cash. You're dangerous.
Kiffin: That's right. Head. Ball. Coach. I AM dangerous.

I think he's already driving them off a cliff. Their recruiting was good considering Kiffin hadn't even unpacked in Knoxville and will likely be better when he has a full year. But can he mold them into a team with a coherent offense and defense? Kiffin's boy Coach O could recruit like the dickens and we all know how that worked out. YO-YO-YO-YO-YO...WILD BOYS!

And then Spurrier stood two inches away from Kiffin's face and clicked his teeth together ...

Just remember, "dangerous" Maverick comes out on top in that flick.*

Holy hell -- is this guy even going to survive until the season?

What a dumbass --- at some point, you think the Tennessee compliance people will tie him up and lock him in his damn office.....

They have all been minor violations. Schools rack them up like crazy.
UGA football has at least three since the start of the year.
I'm becoming convinced that Kiffin running wild is all part of a plan to fire up the fan base. Nothing he has done, at least yet, has been a big deal.
But Memphis to Johnson City and with all points in between can't get enough.

Question: how many "minor violations" can you get away with before the NCAA cracks down? At some point the accumulation of minors have to equal a major, right? Otherwise there's no point in having em on the books at all.

I know these are all bullshit little violations but, criminy, the guy's got a collection of em before he's even had his first game. If you're paid millions of dollars to do a job, I'd think you could sacrifice some time to reading and learning the frickin rules.

Not to mention that 10 minutes dealing with a secondary violation is 10 minutes Coach Lane Kiffin won't be out there making Tennessee football a champion.

Oklahoma has averaged 30 secondary violations a year since 2002.

Secondary violations carry no damage from the NCAA. Mainly, if a secondary violation is reported (which keeps them from becoming major), then the university doles out the punishment and the case is closed.

In this case, perhaps Kiffin thought it would be more beneficial to get a five-star cornerback recruit on ESPN and sacrifice a secondary violation.

So secondary violations are meaningless. It does look foolish, especially considering his turning in of Urban Meyer, but.... there really is no time to do with these "crimes".

Secondary violations are usually mundane, bizarre and stupid (which is probably why many of them are committed daily). This would apply more to basketball since there isnt a lot of kids signing on one day like football, but a secondary violation is a university/SID releasing more than one release on a kid who signs before they enroll at the school.
