He hasn't coached a game and he's not fired yet? [/MikePrice@Alabama]

So the Vol fan theory is that Kiffin is knowingly committing those secondary violations because it lets Vol Nation and everyone else know who he is recruiting?
If I'm interviewing or being recruited for a job and I learn later that the company did something wrong in the process it makes me wonder.

No. The Vol fan theory is that Kiffin has everyone --- including most of the elite high school players in the Class of 2010 --- talking about Tennessee football. That's a quantum leap from the abyss of irrelevance that the program had fallen into just 8 months ago.

When you shock a dead heart back to life, you might leave a few scars. The patient can live with that.

Jim Rome spent the first hour of his show today talking about Kiffin, fwiw -- which, I imagine, is a lot when it comes to impressing 16-17 year old blue chippers.

What do Michael Jackson and Lane Kiffin have in common?

...an interest in 13 year old boys:

I would think a pattern of chronic, repetitive and apparently intentional secondary violations would eventually enter as evidence in the dreaded "lack of institutional control" charge.

You'd have to get nailed for something else (major) first, of course, but at the rate Kiffin seems to be going, how long will that be?

    That's exactly right.

If you look at this board as an example, how many active coaches have their own thread going right now ( _____ getting fired/hired aside)? I think getting one season under his belt (where seven wins is highly doable, given the semi-weak schedule, making him an insta-hero) and the possible/probable humiliations that come with it will quiet him down.

But by that time, the point will have already been made: if you want milquetoast, go to Shoney's on Rutledge Pike. They don't serve it at Neyland any more.

I think the other thing that Kiffin needs to be careful of -- if you thumb your nose at the NCAA too many times and flaunt your willingness to break rules, even secondary ones, they will come after you and not stop until they get you.

See Tarkanian, Jerry for an example and more recently Calipari, John as well........

Been a while since CLK was bashed around here...oh, about 20 minutes or so...so I thought I'd dredge this thread up to note that he's now being name-dropped by Lil Wayne.

Yeah, that won't help recruiting at all, I'm sure.

"Rock my hat to the side like I paint pictures. / Smoke weed, talk sh*t like Lane Kiffin."

Little Wayne sucks, his rhymes don't rhyme or make sense (no problem - country music does the same thing), but he doesn't even get the beat right.

But I am grateful CLK's wife wasn't mentioned.

Lane Kiffin is a loose cannon.
