Spurrier's press conferences at Florida were an embarrassment. The local media laughs at all of his jokes like they are the funniest thing they've ever heard. I was at one where Spurrier dressed down a female student writer and the Gainesville Sun columnist and beat writer sat there and laughed like it was the funniest thing they've ever seen. The poor girl looked like she was about to cry.

    Shameless.

It's not the "ol' ball coach."

    It's the "Head Ball Coach."

So he changed his feeble juvenile nickname since he got to South Carolina?

Nope. Always was the Head Ball Coach, even at Florida.

    It evolved somehow.

Interesting. But I doubt "ol' ball coach" started in washington. The Florida fawnbois used it all the time.

Not saying they didn't. Just saying it evolved from what he said into what idiots said he said.

Like the whole "Al Gore invented the internet" thing.

  7. IJAG would be correct. In fact, Spurrier sells a brand of wine called "Head Ball Coach." Say "Ol' Ball coach" and he gets "Ol' Ball testy".

Now there's a wine I'll never consider drinking.

  9. The Head Ball Coach Kool-Aid isn't selling so hot anymore either.

It was sixth when Fulmer got fired, and stayed in the top 10 afterward. Kiffin's probably shooting higher.

I've covered games at every SEC venue, and many of them let tons of boosters into the pressers. That explains much of the laughing and, even worse, the goddamn clapping. Makes me want to gag.

I covered a non-conference game at LSU earlier this year. Two seats down, some old codger was pulling out the "yes" and "f*ck Jarrett Lee," etc. every other play.

Then I took a harder look and it was former A.D. Skip Bertman.
