"American Sniper Next Door" really would have cashed in.

    Yeah. LTL is right.

The vast majority of the criticism of the film is based on its cinematic qualities.

Whoever did the sound editing on this film should never work again.

At this point of the debate, now that we're back from the second commercial, what kind of resolution are we seeking?

Have you seen the movie? In no way does it make Kyle out to be some flawless action hero and neither does it glorify war. It's not a rah-rah movie in any sense. It's a very sobering two hours. There were probably 50 people watching it when I went and not one said a word when it was over. A good movie, but not a feel-good flick.

I'm actually surprised that it bothers liberals so much. For them, it has a happy ending.

He's flawless in combat. An unstoppable killing machine who can hit head shots a mile out and always gets his man. He just needs backstory. One where his parents were killed in front of him and he swore revenge.

The Marines, once considered America's finest warriors, are portrayed as a cowardly lot, only good for cannon fodder while the real fighting is left to the Seals.

Stateside, he's a whacked out, PTSD suffering veteran who doesn't feel complete even as he holds his robot baby in his arms. He only becomes virtuous when he lends his overall awesomeness to other veterans and that leads to his martyrdom, done in by the very thing he vanquished, a whacked out PTSD suffering veteran.

I really look forward to rehashing all these arguments when it doesn't win for best picture.

The GF, a God-fearing Republican voting real 'Murican, thought The Imitation Game was a better movie.

    So you enjoyed the ending?

No, the ending was sad, even though I knew it was coming because I was familiar enough with his story to know how it went.

I thought the use of the news footage with the text was genius and an emotional gut punch.

The movie also gave far more depth to Chris Kyle and it would have been nice for them to flesh out the tail end a little more.

But I don't see why the movie needed to add a Syrian super sniper.

Do you agree with the movie's portrayal of Marines as cowards that were only good for cannon fodder?

The scene where he took over their raids was dumb. I can understand him having some juice with the Marines, but I find it hard to believe that a group of them would completely acquiesce to his leadership.

No, it pisses off a few handfuls of look-at-me "liberal" jerkoffs on Twitter. And Michael Moore.

If everyone in the world, right or left, were as fucking crazy as they are on the Internet, this world would've burned a long time ago.

It's Jordan Peele's role to lose.

No different than how Black Hawk Down portrayed Delta Force vs The Army Rangers. Both the SEALS and Delta
Forces have been know to look down on everyone else so no it was not off base.

Yeah. The first thing that comes to mind is Eric Bana's character Hoot (a composite character of two Delta guys) saying "this is my safety, sir" to Capt. Steele right in front of everyone.
