Rogue Ales just hired its first Cooper about a year ago. Its now making its own barrels and its first aged beer "Rolling Thunder" came out in 1L swing-top bottles. Wife and pulled off a few ounces each. Very hot (alcohol, not spicy) but still very good. Rogue "charged" the barrel with its own Dead Guy Whiskey before aging.
Just got back from Cincinnati, sampled many beers from Braxton and Rivertown this afternoon.

It's 95 with humidity to match here. Am drinking my golf cart special, Amstel Light in a cup full of crushed ice. Anything else would be just too sticky.

Lone Star ain't my brand, but I'm happy to be drinking it, because that means my oldest is around.

Gee, that's why I've been drinking (really cold) Coors Light and Schaefer and Red Stripe the past few days -- watered down heat wave beer.

I'm into my gf's Fetzer's Chardonnay again, and she's bitching because it is her last 1.5L bottle.

I'm like - go buy some more.

Now guys, a word of caution here. She does NOT drink beer, and I worried about that a bit when we first met. Then I realized the economic benefits of her NOT drinking MY beer, while I can raid her wine and spirits.

    Works for me.

But I am on the couch again tonight.

you're right and tell her, you open it you got to drink it. my wife will leave a bottle of arbor mist or yellow tail open on the counter for 2 or 3 days. at that point i just take the bottle and make like it's mad dog 20 20 from back in the days when i was even more immature and stupid.

  12. Went to the Rails and Ales festival in Huntington yesterday. They had beer from all over the world. Maine, Idaho, Europe ... They were probably more than 300 kinds of beer there.
Sampled probably 50 beers (they were really small glasses).

Beer types I do NOT like: Saison, Sours, Bourbon Barrel crap ...
Ale of Fergus, from Devil's Backbone Brewing Co. was far and away from favorite. Had several samples of this one!
Roeddy's Red, a WV-based brew, was my second choice.
Oberon and two-hearted Ale from Bell's Brewery was 4-star.
Dale's Pale Ale from Oskar Blue was also a 4-star.
    Vanilla Porter from Breckenridge
    Cougarbait from Country Boy Brewing
Devil Anse IPA,m Greenbrier Valley (W.Va) brew works
    Hop Hunter from Sierra Nevada

Some that I did NOT like
Lost River (W.Va) Brewing Co.'s Black Ale
    Red Tail from Mendocino Brewing
Crux, from Bridge Brew works (Fayetteville, W.Va)
    Weihenstephan Pilsner
Ale of Two Cities, Devil's Backbone Brewing
    Titke Blanche, Brasserie Silly
Elliot Ness, Great Lakes Brewing - I have tried many of there beers, I don't like any of them.
Sea Dog Brewing's Blueberry and Wild Blueberry. UGH.
Passion Fruit Pinner, from Oskar Blues
Passion Fruit Kicker, Green Flash Brewing
    Peche Mel, Dubuisson
Moinette Blond and Foret, Brasserie Dupont
    Penn Gold, Penn Brewery

Most of the beers, maybe it was the tap systems ... a lot of them were too carbonated.
