I decided to go dry for January -- hit the red wine hard enough at the end of 2016 that I figured that I could use a break. I do a big Super Bowl weekend with law school friends (not to the city of the game) so I will wait until the NY/NJ crowd gathers at the United lounge on that Friday to fall off of the wagon.

So buy stock in Trader Joe's flavored seltzers in the meantime.

Excellent choice. Just finished Merino chianti with takeout pizza. It fits, and it's $8.99 a bottle.

Ran into St. Archer at the Rose Bowl. Never heard of it. San Diego brewery. Enjoyed it. By the way, that is not me in the photo, but my friend "John"

And then a couple of days later on my birthday, my brother gave me a bottle of Manhattans, which I got after a couple of Manhattans at dinner.

Had a couple of gimlets last night with fresh lime juice; nice steak compliment.

I don't think I could go dry for a month - it's my one foodie tendency. And I enjoy the ritual too much. I.'be been trying to limit it to a max of one a day (at most) for a while. Failed on Saturday, but over the course of several hours.
