That is so far from my top priority in buying a chicken sandwich.

Not my priority in choosing a chicken sandwich, either.
    Do you boycott Chik-fil-a?

No, sir. Then again, it seldom comes up as the place I want to go to eat. And it is available around here.

You and I are in agreement then, although I don't currently live closer than 45 minutes from a Chik-fil-a.

This isn't a new issue. Cathy's made public statements about what he thinks about gay people and gay marriage before, and it always made me rather "Eh," because I don't share his views. As illustrated, though, there are a lot of companies run by guys whose views I don't share, and Chik-fil-A didn't seem worse enough to take notice of. It's near where I work and I got lunch there once or twice a week without committing self-mutiliation out of shame.

But the recent flare-up coupled with the corporate reaction, particularly the blatant lying and misleading consumers with the likes of the Fake Facebook Girl and Muppet debacles is too much for me. This is dumb. These people not only don't share my opinion on a particular issue, they're making efforts to mislead me into feeling sorry for them because of it. I will take my business elsewhere.

I still feel like calling something like this a "boycott" is a bit dramatic. I am not part of any organized effort and I'm not judging people who buy their greasy, processed chicken at this particular greasy, processed chicken eatery. I just won't be doing it anymore.

That's the fairest thing. I won't judge anyone on that either. If they care enough about certain issues to make buying decisions, hey, that's their business. They probably have a stronger moral compass than me.

People should make choices for whatever reason they choose. Very few have the resolve to carry through a real, consistent standard. they just get caught up in the outrage of the moment, though.

I have a friend who will not eat at In n Out because of the scripture citations on the bottom of the cups. While I am completely nonreligious, he is very antireligious. It's his choice, although I tell him all the time I think it's silly.
His response is consistent: In n Out is free to put scripture citations on the bottom of their cups and he is free to not patronize their business.

I'm not sure it's really about morality. If I were to sit down and look at my consumer habits, I have no illusions that I give my money to plenty of people I differ on issues with. I can live with that. The Chik-fil-A thing was just a bit too much, I found the overall company response awful, and it's not at all inconvenient for me to take my business elsewhere.

In n Out is another place with a good management reputation, but I have no idea what cauases their Foundation supports.

Growing up Mormon was no big deal for me ... I'd come home from school and say "Hi Mom....Hi Mom....Hi Mom...Hi Mom....Hi Mom ... Good to see you Mom ... Hi Mom....Wait, who are you? Mom? Damn Dad, another one?....Hi Mom...

Well, Marriott is a big purveyor of alcohol.
Some Mormons are more devout than others.
