Not going to a place because it is owned/operated by someone of a particular faith is silly. I agree with a post above about Chik-Fil-A going on a misleading campaign to drum up sympathy. That's just wrong.

I usually need a good reason not to go somewhere, and a backward belief isn't it. Give me food poisoning *cough* Del Taco *cough* and I will never go there again. Or curse me out on the phone for writing an editorial that they read far more into than was actually there because they felt guilty a woman was sexually assaulted while leaving the establishment, yeah, I'm never setting foot in there. If they didn't advertise, and if we weren't slaves to advertisers, they would never get a drop of ink from my paper.

I don't boycott Walmart because sometimes Target just doesn't have what I need. But I try to go to wally world no more than three or four times a year at most. The last time I went in, for, like, floss or something, I walked in by the food, walked down in front of the overflowing cash registers and walked out the other end. That place is just sooooo depressing even to walk into, I decided I could better spend my money elsewhere.

I haven't eaten at Hardee's/Carl's Jr. since 1995. I had three consecutive terrible meals in three different states and said enough's enough.

Won't eat at Pizza Hut, Taco Bell or most any fast food restaurant (In n Out excepted when I'm out west), not just because the food is terrible, but also that it's terrible for you.

I've recently started buying Asics instead of Nike — not because of Nike's terrible record of overseas production facilities but because the shoes fit and feel better.

None of these are boycotts, per se, but that's places I avoid.

For all the talk about Walmart, I was delighted when we got ours. For a quickie grocery trip, it's been surprisingly good.

Now that I think about it, some four months ago I stopped at the Burger King drive-through late night and left with three essentially cold cheeseburgers. I haven't been back since. (Although I wouldn't be going now anyway, trying to drop pounds and all.)

    YF, you rang?

    Anyway, let's see ...

Walmart, Walmart, Walmart, Walmart, Walmart. Oh, and did I mention, Walmart?

    Koch products

    Chik-Fil-A now

    Cracker Barrel

Target was on my list for some of their 2010 campaign donations but their recent donations for schools and ads favoring gays took them off it.

Tough to find a gas station to go to these days.

Don't agree with AT&T's campaign donations but the fact they have unions still keeps me in their fold.

All Sheldon Adelson properties, such as the Venetian, et. al.

    All United Dairy Farmers products

All of Rush Limbaugh's sponsors, especially ProFlowers.

I didn't know about the Scott Walker ones, so thanks for that.

That's all that comes to mind for now.

Do you live in a cave by chance?

As of today, Dunkin Donuts. I don't support companies that sponsor Penn State's delusion. I am actually an even prouder customer of State Farm since they pulled their support of that clown show.

No, I don't live in a cave. I live in a large city where I'm able to buy a lot of local and state products and go to restaurants owned by local owners. I read a lot of labels before purchasing. I have no trouble dressing or feeding myself under these parameters. As for United Dairy Farmers, the boycott goes back to their enormous financial support of an extreme right-wing group that favored censoring art and free speech. Not to mention that one of their other companies, Chiquita, has been proven to be guilty of many crimes, up to and including murder in some of the countries where it operates. Try Googling it.

That's fine and all, and I salute you for your convictions. But do you ask the local shop owners their political views/affiliations before you purchase?

For all you know, the little corner store down the street funnels money to a coke-dealing, sexual-abusing, prostitution ring-running, gay-bashing, right-wing extremist.
