I'm somewhere in the netherworld between preps beat writer and GA reporter. I'm at a small daily, so it's 85 percent preps. But the other 15 percent ranges anywhere from college to pro to miscellaneous, along with layout, copy editing, etc.

Does Blackened Voodoo exist, or did that get washed away by Katrina? GEORGE BUSH DOESN'T CARE ABOUT BLACK BEERS.

Remember a few months back when this high school basketball team inserted its mentally-challenged manager into a game and he proceeded to hit, like, eight three pointers by sheer dirnt of dumb luck?

That's kind of the best way to sum up what I do.

Thanks for so many replies guys. I know I left out some categories, but I just wanted to get a general idea. It seems to be a much broader spectrum that I had thought.

  11. Columnist, which a friend of mine says is another word for semi-retirement. ;D

Yeah, it comes up at least once a year. The thing I learned, and was surprised at, from the last time this survey came about was the number of non-sports journalists who read this board.
