What do you expect from a minority hire?

  1. And with that, the 21st post by Boots on a thread in which he never answered his own original question, we can all pack up and go home. ;)

Ike, are you so busy counting my posts that you don't read them. That questioned was answered on the previous page. Do yourself a favor, stop trying to be so interested in how many times someone posts. You got an issue with me, PM me. Otherwise, stick to the topic.

I'm usually offended when a news org trots out a previously low profile journalist of color for a story that involves a person of color. I understand that many journalists have benefitted from this practice and finally been able to show their stuff. That said, it still bothered me last week when SI used a black female reporter from its online dept. on the Rutgers story. She did a hell of a job and is clearly a talented writer and reporter, but I felt SI was using her byline (I believe her first in the magazine) to show how un-IMUS they were. Yet, SI tends to keep Kelli Anderson busy writing about female college sports.

I noticed that too. That's one of the reasons why I began the topic.

Then why didn't you ask a question relating to how papers use minority reporters to cover other minorities?

    You chose .... poorly.

I chose the way I wanted it. There are so many nutcases out here who are so trigger happy to condemn things, I knew it wouldn't take long for some true feelings to surface. Look at the threads and I think you'll see what I mean by that.

So, boots, you chose not to pose the question in a way that would generate intelligent responses? On purpose?

You deserve every single bit of the bashing you receive on here.

I expect nothing less from many here. Again, stick to the topic.
