Yes, stick to the vague topic designed to draw angry responses and quit posting angry responses.

Ace, you're trying to be an ass and you're not good at it today. You saw the responses from Shot and Frank and others. Come on, get with the program.

I'm just messing with you today, bootsie.

I think it's a bit disingenuous to choose to have a purposely vague and charged initial question and then tell repsonders to stick to the topic.

    Don't you?

Ace, as you can tell from the tone of some posts, there are many out there with color problems and diversity.

You know, I wasn't aware of that problem till I saw this thread.

    Carry on, brother.

Maybe you didn't but I just wanted to show the venom out there. It's one of the reasons why I didn't begin the post the way you suggested. I wanted true emotions and response. I got it.

Don't flatter yourself, boots. Pavlov you are not.

I think if you'd just admit what a douche you are, everyone would accept it and stop the nonstop bashing. Then again, maybe not.

  8. And here I thought the Rob Parker thread, which became yet another Boots thread (I've lost count), was going to be hard to top.

    Stick to the topic. Thanks.

I don't really think in terms of "using" a particular minority. Then again, my paper is so small that I don't have a choice in how I use people. Even if I did, however, I would -- and do -- operate things as a meritocracy. I want my best people on the best stories. Period. If that turns out to be one of my interns, that's who gets the assignment.

If I have to take on a subject I'm not familiar with or comfortable with, I do as much research as possible. Sometimes, if someone else is familiar with the topic I'm researching, I'll pick his or her brain on it until I can walk in and not feel like I'm totally unprepared. That would go for any story related to cultural issues I'm not familiar with or if I'm covering the local women's college lacrosse team's latest game.

The guy already calls himself "the ultimate ass" and yet we (ahem), we won't be satisfied till he calls himself a douche?

Personally, I would much rather be a douche than an ass. In fact, if I were to be reincarnated as an inanimate object, I think douchenozzle would be my top choice, as I know I'd be visiting my favorite place.

Boots, I can't help but notice that every thread you're a part of seems to devolve into a childish little pissing match with you always being involved, yet claiming that it was the other guy who started it, won't stick to the topic, etc. You think that's just a coincidence? Or is everyone just out to get you? After all, it couldn't possibly be in any way your fault.
