What do you expect from a minority hire?

That last part is descriminatory, Simon! There are damn good people out there who just have a need to show the waistband of their underwear slightly above the top of their pants. How can you not want to see them get their chance!?

Considering that I am one, this is really offensive. Minorities bring a different perspective to stories being covered and have a special understanding about certain cultural, traditional aspects. Boots, I do find this really offensive as will would any other visible minority.

 

I'm a "visible minority." I wasn't offended.
I'm also an editor. So, I'm told I'm an idiot daily from white, black, red, green, purple and translucent. Were you really offended by a one-sentence thread topic?

I guess my question is: if you hired a minority, boots, what would your expectations be?

To answer boots' "question," I expect the same from everyone. However, my experiences indicate I should expect less from some minority employees.
