What do you own (or do or eat/drink) that others would consider extravagant?

If someone wants to hire me to post on SJ for them PM me and I'll send a rate sheet.

I've been to several. They're great.

I don't put them under the category of "extravagant" though. They're appropriately reasonable, and to some extent important to a well-rounded life in America. Golf isn't that. I just like it a lot.

Surprisingly, I think this is the first post in this thread that made me jealous.

I own 16 beautiful handmade sweaters. Wife swears she'll stop at 20. We'll see.

    That's all I got, folks.

I'm not talking about putting cups away, or straightening up things like you'd expect a housekeeper to do. I'm talking about finding a coat that was hanging on a chair in one room, folded up and put in a towel closet.

Moddy was correct with his first reply. I was referring to me. I really don't give two flying fucks what anyone else does. I grew up and live on a farm. What I posted was a reflection of the way I was raised. I worked for 9 hours today, and the first thing I did when I got home was get on a ladder and clean the leaves out of my gutters. THEN, I went for a run. Therefore, I doubt he could kick my smug ass.

And Dick, I didn't pay someone to build the deck on the back of my house; I did it myself. I did lay the carpet in part of the house, but not all of it. I wouldn't pay someone to deliver anything. I have a truck, not a Prius.

Substitute housekeeper for neighbor boy and I'm with Dick 100 percent on this. Moments of idleness in my house are just that - moments. And they're fleeting. Being able to spend extra time enjoying time with my son and fiancee leaves me smiling when I look in the mirror.

And the additional time on the weekends has also allowed me to complete several home improvement projects rather spending time cleaning floors. Yet, if I had hired a carpenter to do them, I doubt anyone would cast any aspersions about being "idle."

    I don't know, but I'm partying at Pancamo's house.

  10. That's not say we don't have - or do- a few nice things.. My wife has two Keurigs (home and office), but I - based on the replies here - I would hardly label that extravagant.
I have a wife, three kids, a mortgage, a one truck payment (with a second car payment in the near future) and about $15K in credit card debit (my wife's).

Three high end, full sets of golf clubs. They're a little different, but I could easily get by with one set. Certainly don't need three Scotty Cameron putters. Little ashamed by it, actually. I keep one set at my parents' place (across the country) so I don't have to check them when it go visit them. (We played a lot when I was a kid and play a lot when I visit.) I have a set in my garage and a set I keep in my car so I can sneak in a quick nine or hit the driving range if I have time. When I'm bored, I surf ebay and contemplate buying more clubs. I've given away drivers and wedges and putters to friends just because I got bored of them and wanted a new model.

I'm going to budget money for yard work next year. Before I hurt my back, I loved doing yard work. I got my iPod, jammed to my music, and got in a good sweat. No one bothered me. I didn't think about work or other bullshit. It was zen. I miss it. But I just can't do it anymore, and I really don't want to blow out my discs again.
