What is the appeal of Mickey Mouse?

My cousin and his wife did a Disney wedding this year. I can't stand Disney and considered not going. He's my favorite cousin, though, so I went. I don't understand how an adult could have fun there. Understanding that everyone is different, there are about 1,000 places I'd rather go for a vacation.

C'mon, the senseless violence in that cartoon I linked is awesome!

Getting drunk around the world at Epcot Center was fun. Pleasure Island is fun at night. That was all about five years ago or so, though.

    Agree 100 percent, dreunc.

If you have kids (and I have taken our crew to Disneyland in Anaheim) it's one thing; if they're the right age, it can be a great (though expensive) day for them.

But adults? I don't get that. Just thinking of Southern California, there are dozens and dozens of more authentic and enjoyable ways I could spend a day.

Would never pay $105 for the privilege, but when we were living in SoCal and got in free for various reasons (birthdays, volunteerism), it was an enjoyable way to spend a day. We particularly liked the California Adventure park ... and the cats.

Never had much use for the Disney cartoon creations, but I do have a fondness for the WB folks, especially Wile E. Coyote, Genius.

But if you want classic cartoons that were truly aimed at adults (and which STILL make me roll on the floor in hysterics), nothing in the world beats Rocky and Bullwinkle.

This thread reminds me of my hipster friends who complain about sports.
I always ask them if they remember the exact moment the joy inside of them died.

Because they couldn't possibly find joy in something else?

    They seem to enjoy whining.

Personally, I hate Micky Mouse, but love Disney World.

In terms of major-studio animated creations (especially since we're largely talking about short subjects),
the Warners products continues to provide considerable, consistent joy.

In long-form, Disney continues to score, of course. Up was great . . . especially the first half-hour.
But in 12-minute bites? That fight was stopped, long ago. TKO.
