The culture of Baghdad is not conducive to healthy living.

The culture of Darfur is not conducive to healthy living.

    But in this country . . .

Anyone on this board has access to whatever food he/she deems as healthy.

We also have access to and the knowledge that exercise will keep us healthy and help remove any unwanted weight.

What people actually decide to do, OTOH, is up to them. "Culture" is an excuse, not a valid reason.

I have no real problem with obese people until they sit next to me on a plane and ask to raise the armrest, which is happening more and more often.

Swear to God, they'll have to kill me dead before that armrest comes up.

I only once had a problem with a fat person for something related to his weight, and really it was poor judgement on his part as well.

I worked with a guy at my college paper who was extremely overweight, definitely over 300 pounds and a bit under 6-feet tall. Good guy. Hard-working reporter, so-so writer. Thing is, he got around campus on a bicycle. So, you can imagine as a very large man riding his bike around quite a bit, the guy was always sweating.

One day I sit down at a conference-table for a meeting realizing too late that he had just been there. I really don't want to describe the sensation that followed, but at least my dorm room was close enough for me to go change clothes fairly quickly. NAS-TY.

I never said a word. Gross as it was, I simply felt bad for the guy.

And whaaaaat is the deal with airline food? Man, if everyone had to eat airline food, no one would be fat, because airline food is lousy!
