    Boom,
When caught lying in a particular thread, most people would just STFU and try to move away quietly. You, on the other hand, just move right to the next lie, and the next and the next and the next.

58,000 dead on the watch of Dem presidents ring a bell? Go fuck yourself.

You mean the president who in some way, deep in the shadows, had something to do with JFK's assassination? That LBJ?

I know you liberals want to reverse history and tell us that Nixon got us into Viet Nam but it just did not happen that way.

You need to stop living in denial about your liberal icons - JFK and LBJ.

Lets see - If not for the 32,000 troops killed on the LBJ watch he was a great president- That is pretty much the liberal train of thought.

You pinned all 58K deaths on the two "democrat presidents," a point that is demonstrably false. (Pinning the war solely on them is also false, but more arguable to the weakminded.) We called you on it, and did so without pointing out, as Robert Dallek's new book makes painfully clear, Nixon (and Kissinger) prolonged that war purely for political reasons and settled it on terms they could have had in 1969, nearly 30K American deaths sooner. So, instead of just 'fessing up, you veer marvelously off-topic and start raving.
And it may have escaped your notice, Boom, but an awful lot of liberals weren't exactly pleased with Lyndon from 1965 on.
Of course, it would be further unkind to mention the fact that, by every standard by which you're arguing Vietnam, the Iraq clusterfuck is all on the Republicans. (Anything Clinton may or may not have said or done therefore equals Ike's role in Vietnam.)

No one has asserted anything like that anywhere on this thread.

The last president with whom Boom was completely happy:

This is one of the best cases of selectively interpreting history I have seen on this board. I mean, using this logic, someone could actually argue that it was TRUMAN who was responsible for the Vietnam War (which is just as ridiculous as pinning it on Eisenhower)... After China and the Soviet Union recognized the DRV, Truman recognized the French puppet government as a countermeasure because of the fear of Communism spreading--which pretty much sums up U.S. foreign policy from 1945 through 1965. The fear of communism spread all the way through the Kennedy administration. But you somehow selectively pull Eisenhower's name out of a hat? Eisenhower gave the French some money and arms (the Soviets and Chinese were funding the Viet Minh, so let's not look at it in a vacuum), but he wasn't the one who created the quagmire that put U.S. troops there, escalated things in the middle of a losing effort and led to the loss of American lives our involvement brought. That was LBJ's doing and was compounded by Nixon (although Nixon inherited the kind of untenable mess that the next President will inherit).
