    If the wedding/funeral suit is the only one you have, wear that. Dress Shirt should be ironed and I would go with a solid color which matches the suit. A reasonable tie.

    Make sure the shoes have a good shine. Even if a fashion-challenged, old, sloppy guy who is a sports editor wouldn't notice, the receptionist certainly will and will likely treat you better.

    Gee, that gives you a whole lot of confidence in the legal profession.

    I guess we'll be seeing guys get off death row if they can prove their lawyers wore slacks to court.

    Always go with a suit. The jacket could always come off with a little joke if you happen across a casual shop. Hard to do that if you underdress.
